Animal Farm Comparison Essay
Could you ever imagine being physically and emotionally controlled and mentally corrupted by a single “being” everyday? In both novels, Animal Farm and 1984, the author, George Orwell shows how Napoleon and Big Brother, both head figurines for their society, contain numerous correspondences linking both of them. In the novel Animal Farm the author displays how Napoleon exhibits dictating traits while trying to selfishly control a government for his own contentment in return, than everyone’s contentment as a whole. However, when his strong dictatorship begins to terminate, it seems the book reveals some thoughts of the animals wanting to return back to the type of government that they once had when they first rebelled against Mr. Jones due to

They were both came to power by the help of their nations but soon they both turn their backs on their people and behave cruelly towards their nation. Another similarity between Napoleon and Big Brother is that they both want to weaken their rivalries. In Animal Farm, Napoleon exiles Snowball, and he makes everyone think that Snowball is a betrayer. "Comrades, do you know who is responsible for this? Do you know the enemy who has come in the night and overthrown our windmill”(72)? Napoleon accuses Snowball of his evil deed and pronounces, “Comrades, here and now I pronounce the death sentence for Snowball”(72). In 1984, Big Brother exiles Rutherford by also making everyone think that he is a betrayer too. “They were men far older than himself relics of the ancient world, almost the last great figures left over from the heroic early days of the Party”(76). Most of the original leaders of the Party Revolution except Big Brother himself had been purged and vaporized on the charge of being counter revolutionaries and traitors.”They were executed, and their fate was recorded in the Party histories, a warning to posterity”(77). It is really ironic to see that in both stories, Rutherford and Snowball is the first followers by their leaders side, but they are the first to be sent away and betrayed by their so called close
