Animal Caretakers
Introduction
The instinct to help other humans in need or to have compassion for them, exist in most humans. But, not most humans look at an animal on the side of the road or wandering around their neighborhood and think they should be helped, especially since they are different from their own. Luckily, there are some people that dedicate their time, life, and love to help injured and suffering animals in need. Just like parents try to keep their kids off the streets, an animal caretaker tries to do the same with animals.
Main Point- One/ Animal Caretakers seek to take stray animals off the street.
Last week, a stray dog was wandering around my neighborhood. It was a small fury little fella with somewhat of an under bite and matted hair. I ended up naming him Henry just because it seemed right! Henry happened to have taken a liking to me and our front porch. Henry had no intentions of leaving, so we let him sleep in the garage with a blanket. We would have kept Henry but the Vet bill would have been too high. Luckily, there were people we could call to come take Henry to the animal shelter. Those Animal rescuers/ caretakers didn’t hesitate to come, and made sure everything they did was humane. A humane thing the animal caretakers did was take Henry to a shelter.
Main Point- Two/ Animal Caretakers care for animal in Animal shelter or Hospital.
When they are in a safe place, different Vets and animal caretakers make sure the animals are comfortable and healthy. Animal caretakers do all they can to get the animal back in good health and appearance for a loving family one day. Going to several animal shelters like Paws and The Humane Society, gave me an overview of how these equal minded animal lovers handle the different cases of animal injuries and abuse they receive. You can tell they want the best for all of them. When an animal is fully medicated, it is then eligible for a new home.
Main Point-

"The average dog is a nicer person than the average person." This was said by Andy Rooney. Andy Rooney is a very, very wise man. He adopted a dog from an humane society once, just like I did. The animal shelter I got my dog from was called Humane Society Of West Michigan. The Humane Society Of West Michigan was very neat and orderly. It smelled like sanitizer and bleach mixed together. Past the main lobby there was a wide hallway you go through to get to the crowded room where they keep all the dogs. Inside this spacious room were kennels that had between 2 and 4 dogs in them. A couple of them only had 1 lonely dogs in them. This made me feel happy and sad being…

Human kindness is known as an act of concern for other people. Some have shown a little bit of kindness towards someone else here and there, but what about towards animals, do they count as someone or something important to care about? Nowadays humans have become the deciding factor in an animal's life. They are the ones who seem to be making all the decisions for the animals. Having them for the only purpose of serving ourselves seems to be our selfish needs talking. And we are making a choice in letting the cycle of abuse continue for them, while animals are being abused through circuses and farms, for entertainment and food purposes all around the world. When in reality animals have feelings, just like humans do, even if animals may not…

Although the equal rights of animals is in question, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) effectively advocates for the well-being of animals by providing health care assistance and legal advocacy, searching out the problem to find a solution that is potent, and rescuing them from danger. The ASPCA does compile available resources with intentions to better the lives of animals. Statistics substantiate that the numbers of animals entering shelters in a year's time does not counterpart with the number of animals leaving the shelter in the same year’s time. For this reason, the ASPCA sets out to not only find, but also to resolve the conflict. The organization has…

Animals die in shelters every day. There are approximately 7.5 million animals added to shelters each year and of those, 2.5 million are euthanized. Society needs to be aware that fostering is a vital part of animal rescue. Each time an animal is featured on social media, people respond from all over the country to adopt it. For that one animal, the outlook is fantastic; however, for those left behind the outlook is much bleaker. If all of the potential adopters for that one animal fostered or adopted another, think of the changes we could make! The main reasons fostering is necessary socialization, behavioral issues, sickness, and to prevent overcrowding of shelters.…

Did you know that there are over 2.4 million healthy dogs and cats in shelters? Did you also know that one every thirteen seconds are euthanized ("Pet Overpopulation: The Humane Society of the United States")? These animals don’t ask to be brought into this world to be put in a small, cold enclosed cage. I personally wouldn’t want to be born into the world to be given up on, would you? Too many people don’t understand or even care to understand this sad statistic. In fact, humanity is so selfish in that aspect it makes me truly sick. Why do we have to have the cutest puppies or kittens? What’s wrong with an older dog, you don’t have to train them half the time. They need love too. My goal gave me the motivation to reach out to my local shelter that influenced me to explore programs in the future to help all dogs and cats.…

Many people can become involved with these practices, including children with disabilities, elders in nursing homes, and kids in juvenile detention centers. Tova Navarra, author of The Encyclopedia of Complementary and Alternative Medicine, states that “another use of animal-assisted therapy is the use of animals to cuddle and interact with traumatized or catastrophically ill patients of all ages in order to heighten emotional comfort and to help people reconnect with normal activity after a significant event, such as a natural disaster or war” (7). Sometimes after a traumatizing event, human contact is not the best option for support. Being bombarded with questions and condolences can be overwhelming when you are trying to simply move on from such horrific events. Animals may provide more comfort than any person could provide.…

As the daughter of an anti-pet mother, having a puppy has been my frustrated dream. Once, when younger, I approached my mother and told her that I didn't need a pure-bred dog that I would take in one of the many stray ones. Of course, the answer was a "No". Ever since then, I became aware of the lots of homeless animals on the streets. Now that I'm older, I realize that if our country's government doesn't even focus properly on human beings, animals have little to no chance of having a place in our "Immediate Help" listing.…

Hurt. Lonely. Abused, Unwanted. Those are some of the reasons we have an animal shelter is for the unwanted or abused animals in or near our county.
