Animal Abuse It is a major problem in the world that many people take seriously. Dogs are said to be the most of the victimized than any other animal. Animal abuse happens almost every day and could happen to any animal in the world. Animal abuse is one of the worst things to happen to an animal. It scars the animals for the rest of their lives or until they find a home that they will be able to trust. Animals really are just lik" Animal Cruelty Facts and Statistics : The Humane Society of the United States ." The Humane
Society of the United States : The Humane Society of the United States . According to the Human Society, “there were a total of 1,880 cruelty cases that were reported in the media in the year 2007. Out of those 1,880 cases 1,212 were dogs, 337 were cats, and 470 were other animals.” According to CNN a 27 year old, Andrew Burnett, was sentenced to three years in prison for tossing a woman 's small dog, who seconds later got hit by a car, into oncoming traffic. Three years was the maximum the judge could give Andrew. Even though Andrew did not spend very long in prison and apologized for what he did, it still shows that people do take it seriously. McBurnett, the owner of the dog said “I would have gladly taken a bullet than have my dog killed in front of me.” McBurnett saying this does show that many people love their animals and would not want them dead. Animal abuse does not just happen to common house pets they also happen to farm animals. Farm animals can include horses and goats, which can also be a pet. According to the Human Society “Of the more than 2million Americans who own horses, more than one-third have a household income of less than $50,000.” This means that the owners could have problems paying for food or getting what they need to take

There are many ways in which people tend to abuse of animals. An example is neglect, meaning that between a pet and the owner there is a “failure to provide an animal with the most basic of requirements of food, water, shelter and veterinary care” (What). Dogfighting is another example. Dogfights are events when two dogs are put inside a fighting pit and are forced to fight until the other one is dead or is too weak to fight back. The fights are brutal and the owners abandon the loosing dogs with only a couple more hours to live because of its deadly injuries or inhumanly kill the dogs themselves. The winning dog owner gets a money price. Most of the dogs that are considered to not be good enough to be entered in the pit and be victorious are used as bait to train other dogs or as breeding dogs where they are constantly exploited. All of these actions that people inflict on the animals can make them become very scared of humans, other dogs and their surroundings causing them to be very…

The ASPCA believes that the successful prosecution of animal cruelty offenders should include fines, jail sentences, and counseling to prevent additional acts of cruelty ( Guiding Principles, 2016). They believe that the people who commit criminal acts toward animals should get a punishment that will match the offense. The assumption that they are making is that there is a correlation between animals and human violence. The are also assuming that if someone is abusive to animals, then they are abusive to humans as well. This is not a fair assumption. There are certain people who have criminal pasts and they find a new start in life by taking care of pit bulls or horses. Animals can help them become better humans. As well as helping them learn love and…

This is also referred to as animal neglect. This includes starvation, dehydration, inappropriate living conditions, inadequate shelter, unable to seek medical attention when needed, and many others. Anything that can cause pain and suffering to an animal is animal neglect. Because many don't realize this, this is one of the biggest problems in the U.S. 6-8 million pets are euthanized in animal shelters each year, nearly half are never found a good home and put to sleep. Millions of pets a year are abandoned and die of starvation, dehydration, or injury. Just remember, just like humans, animals need constant love and attention to live a happy health…

In the Victorian Era one of the only types of animal cruelty was beating your animal to be mean or to make it behave. But in the present day more people have started hoarding animals. “Animal hoarding occurs when an individual is housing more animals than he or she can adequately care for. It is a complex issue that encompasses mental health, animal welfare and public safety concerns. Animal hoarding is defined by an inability to provide even minimal standards of nutrition, sanitation, shelter and veterinary care—often resulting in animal starvation, illness and death”(ASPCA,2017).Hoarding can be worse for the animals involved than being beaten. “Every year in the United States, a quarter of a million animals fall victim to hoarding. Animals collected range from cats and dogs to reptiles, rodents, birds, exotics and even farm animals. Animal hoarding is covered implicitly under every state’s animal cruelty statute, which typically requires caretakers to provide sufficient food, water and veterinary care”(ASPCA,2017). Also most hoarders do not have their animal spayed or neutered, which allows the animals to slowly multiply and become even harder to take care of. Also “In the majority of cases, animal hoarders believe they are helping their animals and deny this inability to provide minimum care” “In the majority of cases, animal hoarders believe they are helping their animals and deny this inability to provide minimum care” (ASPCA, 2017). On top of hoarding in the present day organizations have been founded to stop animal cruelty like the ASPCA. “The ASPCA’s efforts to protect animals span from federal laws to local courts to community engagement. We’re helping to prevent harmful situations for animals and to take action when they occur”(ASPCA,2017). These organizations did not exist in the Victorian Era when people did not think mistreating animals was…

Animal abuse is when someone inflicts pain or harm upon an animal such as not giving them their basic needs (food and water) to beating them. In between 5 and 7 million animal companions enter an animal shelter nationwide, every year (www.aspca.org), and within 50 miles of Hayward, CA, there are 170 animal cruelty cases reported (www.pet-abuse.com). Imagine what these innocent beings that cannot speak out to let the human know they are in pain feel. Animals need us to speak out and help reduce their suffering instead of making their lives worse. Animal safety needs to be improved by creating more laws to protect animals from harm. Animal cruelty is shaped by two forms of abuse, different types of animal abuse, opinions on how animal cruelty happens, organizations that help fight for animal rights, and ways to report it.…

How would you feel if you saw an animal that is boney and sick? For people that love animals it is hard to picture an animal that is sick, covered in fleas or ticks, cuts, and is just boney. Animal hoarding is an unrecognized problem in many communities. By the time people notice it usually too late to help the animals that are involved in the hoarding. Hoarding is considered a type of animal abuse and can be punishable by law if found guilty in court. There are over a hundred cases each year that deal with just animal hoarding that is reported to the authorities. Many shelters and veterinary offices help those poor animals that are brought in by cops and organizations that are established to rescue animals in trouble or danger. There are solutions in solving this problem that is spreading across the United States that can be solved locally or solved by the state. These solutions are the most reasonable. They are to limit the number animals in a household, to check up on previous hoarders more recently, and to inform people of the ways they can help and the effects that can happen due to this problem.…
