Angel Beckford: The Most Influential Person
“There's nothing you can’t work for that you can’t get” This was said by Angel Beckford, a nurse that attended many colleges like the Bronx Community College in New York. The most influential person in her life was her mom, because she was a single mom, worked, and took care of 4 children by herself. Angel received her drive and work ethic, from her mom as an influential person.
Angel grew up in Bronx, New York and played sports in middle school. She played volleyball and participated in competitive double dutch in 6th grade. She started getting involved in sports when her gym teacher recommended her to play on the school's volleyball team at IS 144 Michelangelo. She was mainly supported and encouraged by her mom and friends.

For the most part, society’s outlook on a successful person is who has the most wealth or has the most valuable items, although for some people that is not the case. Joleen Cortez, radiology technician and loving mother of three children, is successful not because she’s obtained a decent amount of wealth but because she has an unbreakable relationship with her family. When asked whether she sees herself as successful, Joleen Cortez relied, “ Having a good relationship with my family but more importantly having the means to support my family while always striding to do better”. Obviously, Cortez’s view of success is being able to maintaining an everlasting relationship with her family and giving them the best opportunity for them to be successful…

Goldstein used credited information by using quotes from famous successful people as well as credited knowledge from another book. Goldstein argued that you can still become successful in life by having a particular talent instead of receiving a college degree. His statement is compared to Amy Chua’s “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother” throughout his article to address his opinion. Chua’s point of view is that a student should attend an Ivy League school and receive only straight A’s to become successful. Goldstein contends likewise. By reflecting upon others experience, Goldstein per sways his reader to a different point of view in becoming successful in today’s society. Giving the impression to his readers at any age you can be successful, Goldstein connects with different generations of people. Anyone can do whatever they want if they just put their minds to it. Everyone can become successful.…

My grandfather has influenced my life in my job by providing an example of a hard worker. For instance, he held the same job for over 30 years at Cabot. He showed up on time and was rewarded for it, soon becoming the manager there. He is always looking for a way to help people wherever he goes. For example, he came to the farm where I work and shucked corn for six hours without pay. He is willing to give anytime he is asked and I greatly admire him for this quality. He influenced me to always work my hardest and be generous with my time.…

    steve jobs

There are so many great examples of people who had to overcome obstacles in their life in order to find their own talent, but one of my favorite examples is Steve Jobs. Jobs was a college student who did not want to conform to the social norms of going to college. Steve Jobs wanted to find out who he really is, and eventually ended up in a major problem where he was in a financial strain and had no idea where he was going with his life. Without a proper education and money he fell into a great amount of stress. What eventually drew out his true talent was when he and Steve Wozniak created their own company. He learned that the secret to his success was his ability to trust people. His trust allowed him to continue to Wozniak with the creation of Apple and expanding it into a company that would make billions of dollars. If it weren’t for him being in a stressful situation, he wouldn’t have learned that he was a trusting person. It was his ability to trust himself and others around him that allowed for him to continue his pursuit of advancing computer technology. If Steve Jobs was always successful in life, and always had things done the way he wanted it to happen, then there would be no need for him being a trusting person. He wouldn’t need to rely on others for his fate. If it weren’t for the obstacles he faced in life, Steve Jobs would have never been the same person was.…
