Important
Works

Crucifixion
“Yes,

he died on the cross for us. But look around you-everything goes on as if nothing has happened.
He died in vain, people don’t really give a damn.”

Painted

in 1976. Ang render’s agony with a visceral figurative style. Christ’s head is consumed by the crowns of thorns, and his body integrates into a bloodied, bony, throbbing mass. It is an uncompromising rendition of the mortal body as a metaphor of human condition.

Symbolizes

suffering.

Pieta
 Painted

in 1962.This particular artwork

boasts of an impressive provenance, coming from the collection of a former senator, a trail-blazing architect-interior designer, and a much-acclaimed artist.
Ang Kiukok’s Pieta intimates Mary’s discreet but palpable presence in the background. This piece poignantly reminds us that even as we slip away, someone somehow does not let go of us.

Man on Fire

Man on Fire
"Man

on Fire" literally warn against playing with matches.
But realisation has come too late for these burning figures.

Dogfights

Fighting Figures

Mother and Child

Mother and Child
Painted

in 1987. More tender subjects project a different image of the artist: sensitive, passionate, nurturing. His "Mother and Child" images exude an inexpressible love, and the more rarely seen.

Lovers

Lovers
"Lovers"

are entwined in a trance-like union, stripped of individual identity.

Clown

Clown
 Recently Ang’s paintings seem to have mellowed to less violent subjects such as harmless looking clown. He bowed in mute despair.

Technique Used…

his

ability to stretch an image without resorting to sheer contrivance or fabrication.
The angular shapes tending towards cubistic abstraction, the strong contrast between black and white, and the disfiguration of the human anatomy are all but the artist's effort of 'objectifying' his own internal relationship with the external world.

Has a distinct style that fused influences from cubism, surrrealism and expressionism.

Some classified his style as a
“figurative expressionism”

“Why not? Open your eyes. Look around you.
So much anger, sorrow, ugliness. And madness.”
-Ang Kiukok

On the month of December 2012, an incident took place in a subway station of New York City. A homeless man named Naeem Davis and a man named Ki-Suk Han’s took on a horrible event. Naeem Davis, the homeless man who self-medicated his bipolar disorder with marijuana seemed, to have a problem with Ki-Suk Han at the time of the event. However, he was not the only one who was not being himself. Ki-Suk Han drank a few bottles and happened to be drunk at the time of the incident when he was killed. At the site of the murder, there were many eye witnesses who saw the murder of Ki-Suk Han, but in reality who was responsible? Was it Naeem Davis, the man who actually pushed Ki-Suk Han? Was it Ki-Suk Han himself who was responsible for his own death for his irresponsible choice of drinking beyond sobriety? Or was it Umar Abassi, the freelance photographer who was capturing this incident with his camera with no intention of helping the man after he was thrown onto the tracks? Can we even go to the extent of saying that the people at the station, at the time of the incident, were responsible? Whatever the case is, someone must be held responsible for the untimely death of this man and in this case it seems that the bulk of the blame must be directed at the people present in the station at the time.…

Spinal Cord- The spinal cord is a long, thin, tubular bundle of nervous tissue and support cells that extends from the brain (the medulla oblongata specifically). The brain and spinal cord together make up the central nervous system (CNS). The spinal cord begins at the occipital bone and extends down to the space between the first and second lumbar vertebrae; it does not extend the entire length of the vertebral column. It is around 45 cm (18 in) in men and around 43 cm (17 in) long in women. Also, the spinal cord has a varying width, ranging from 1/2 inch thick in the cervical and lumbar regions to 1/4 inch thick in the thoracic area. The enclosing bony vertebral column protects the relatively shorter spinal cord. The spinal cord functions primarily in the transmission of neural signals between the brain and the rest of the body but also contains neural circuits that can independently control numerous reflexes and central pattern generators. The spinal cord has three major functions: as a conduit for motor information, which travels down the spinal cord, as a conduit for sensory information in the reverse direction, and finally as a center for coordinating certain reflexes.…

"The Story of an Hour" is a short story in which Kate Chopin, the author, presents an often unheard of view of marriage. Mrs. Louise Mallard, Chopin's main character, experiences the exhilaration of freedom rather than the desolation of loneliness after she learns of her husband's death. Later, when Mrs. Mallard learns that her husband, Brently, still lives, she know that all hope of freedom is gone. The crushing disappointment kills Mrs. Mallard. Published in the late eighteen hundreds, the oppressive nature of marriage in "The Story of an Hour" may well be a reflection of, though not exclusive to, that era.…
