Introduction
A mobile operating system is the system used to operate a smartphone, tablet, PDA or other digital mobile devices.
With over 243million iPhone’s been sold to date (segall, 2012) and over 500million android phones (Knight, 2012) it is fair to say that both IOS (Apple’s mobile platform) and Android (Google’s mobile platform) are the two most popular/common operating systems currently on the market. The high demand for these two systems makes them number one and two in the Smartphone market share (Velazco, 2012).
With both systems being so similar and having so much to offer it is hard to decided which one can be given the title as ‘best operating system’. Both have advantages and disadvantages. Some features are effective for some but not all.
With both systems offering similar features, there are often accusations that Android is in fact a stolen product and the reason the two are so similar is because the Android idea stemmed from Apple’s IOS (Lynley, 2011). These accusations have been proved to be just that, ‘accusations’. As according to public reports and surveys, many of the android features are said to run more smoothly and effectively than IOS.

IOS
IOS was released in 2007 as a mobile operating system for the iPhone and iPod touch (Bohn, 2011). With new generations of the system, IOS is now able to support all Apple hardware. Unlike other mobile operating systems, IOS is blocked and unable to be used on non- Apple hardware (apple, 2012). With the launch of the new generation IOS 6 in 2012 more

Forty years ago if a person mentioned the thought of a cell phone being an intricate part of daily routines for millions of people, it would be very hard idea to believe. Today, consumers have a choice to purchase a cell phone with different types, sizes, and colors. Because there are different choices of devices, there are different companies that provide these devices, hence creating competition to provide a better functional device. Mobile phone industry is not only developing in its hardware sector but the mobile phone software sector is where the development is being concentrated these days and the most phenomenal progress is in the mobile phone operating systems development (Ling, 2004). Abstract Mobile devices have seen an extensive amount of development in recent years, but one question is still looming and nobody seems to have the answer: what is ’standard’ for the mobile platform? Many companies have already written their own in-house operating systems for the devices they manufacture such as Symbian or iPhone OS. However, with the existence of so many closed-source operating systems, no rational company would want to disclose their secrets and lose their edge on the competition. This presents a problem where software developers can’t write their code to be generalized. The Android team hopes to solve this on two levels. Firstly, it seeks to arrive at a common open-source operating system that any mobile device can run on. Secondly, it seeks to make developing applications for these mobile phones more general and hardware-agnostic.…

They have their own plus and minus. Well, believe me if I say if there is an article comparing these OS and say one OS is better the other, it’s bullist. It’s because article maker maybe doesn’t want their phone getting trampled with other kind of phone. Also, maybe they are comparing phone with different price, like iPhone’s 12 Million Rupiah with 1 Million Rupiah Android phones. Apple’s phone owner and Android phone owner can still interact with each other with the help of apps, so they can still communicate with each other, share their photo, and many…

These factors have allowed Android to become the world's most widely used smartphone platform[16] and the software of choice for technology companies who require a low-cost, customizable, lightweight operating system for high tech devices without developing one from scratch.[17] As a result, despite being primarily designed for phones and tablets, it has seen additional applications on televisions, games consoles and other electronics. Android's open nature has further encouraged a large community of developers and enthusiasts to use the open source code as a foundation for community-driven projects, which add new features for advanced users[18] or bring Android to devices which were officially released running other operating systems.…
