Analysis: Why The NBA Should Be Paid
With the first pick in the 2017 NBA draft the Philadelphia 76ers select another draft bust that is undeveloped, not mature enough to be in the NBA, and wasting the NBA’s salary money. By examining the player development, the money wasted on salaries, and the player immaturity, it is clear that the NBA needs to raise the age limit. When a NBA player spends one year in college he is not spending as much time on his development as he could. Also by entering the draft at an earlier age he is wasting the NBA’s salary money if he sits the bench all season. When you think about how much money player make in a season it seems like a lot, but if you sit the bench all season those no real way you are working for that money. If the NBA does raise the age limit the NBA would save more money by not paying those players who sit the bench. Im sure that every sports league would love to save money by not paying the ”bad” players. Many people say that raising the limit would cost those new players millions of dollars. There is no way you can predict how long someone will play in the league so how can it cost them millions? They can always play longer than expected or shorter. Thats where the player development comes back into play. It is really up to the player whether they want to stay in the league or not. NBA players already make at least twenty-five million dollars in the career so why does one less year matter? The next issue is that many players are not mature enough to be in the NBA. You can tell when an NBA player is mature enough. They do not ask for breaks, they don't ask when they can go home. They just do what they are told to do for their team. When a immature player comes into the league you can tell. Spending more time at college level would help them get out of those habits they do that can't be fixed in the
