Analysis: The Lightest Way To Lift Up A Heavy Object
The Lightest Way to Lift Up a Heavy Object - David Choung
Have you ever had a time where you had to lift a heavy object into a pickup truck, but couldn’t do it? Did anybody suggest using a pulley or an inclined plane? In this paper, you will get to know why someone would suggest using a pulley to get a heavy object onto the back of a pickup truck. To use a pulley you first have to know how a pulley works. A pulley is a way to lessen your effort picking up the object. There is a term called mechanical advantage you would need to know also. It basically means how effective the pulley is. So for example I wanted to pick up a 100-pound box, and I had a pulley with a mechanical advantage of 2, the mechanical advantage would come in affect and I would only have to supply 50 pounds of force to pick a 100-pound box. So it is basically dividing the mechanical advantage to the weight and that would be how much force you needed to supply.
There are a few types of pulleys, but to have the best pulley, you would use the block and tackle. The block and tackle is a combination of different pulleys. The block and tackle is the best because it can contain the highest amount of mechanical advantage.

You would do that because you would have to make the pulley higher than the truck. You would make the block and tackle by combining single fixed pulleys and single movable pulleys. Single fixed pulleys are pulleys that you put your weight on one side in order to raise the object. This pulley would contain a mechanical advantage of 1. Single movable pulleys are pulleys that would have a mechanical advantage of 2. After making the pulley, you would hook it up to the heavy object and your friends and you would pull on the rope that would be on the end of the pulley. The object would move and you would move the truck towards it and gently drop it down on the truck. Then you would be

PULL BOX – A pull box is usually installed after a long straight run or every time the set of turns totals 180 degrees or more. The pull box is used to create a intermediate opening for the pulling cable to reduce the length of cable being pulled through the conduit or to reduce the number of turns the cable is being pulled through at a given time. It is important to keep in mind the bend radius of the cable when using a pull box.…

The mechanical advantage of the machine built was 29.2. Each simple machine incorporated in the design added to the mechanical advantage. The fixed pulley system had an advantage of one because the pulley changed the rubber band’s direction once. The three sets of wheel and axles used each provided a 8.4 mechanical advantage. The two gear sets produced a mechanical advantage of two: one from each gear…

This experience was performed to study different pulley arrangement and determine their advantage and efficiency. Pulley which is considered as a type of machine helps individual by changing the magnitude or direction of the force. In general, machines make the out put force or torque greater than input one. The magnitude of the force multiplication is called Mechanical Advantage. Here, two Mechanical Advantages and their differences will be discussed. One of them is Theoretical Mechanical Advantage and the other one is Actual Mechanical Advantage. Theoretical Mechanical Advantage, TMA, is defined as the ratio of the output force by the input (ideal) force.…

Having the wrong machine in the job will result in a loss of time, money, and resources for a company. Many people cannot lift 10,000 pounds of coal at the power plant, a 1,000 pound engine at Nemak, or push a 40 pound block through a cuber at Sartori. Various machines have been integrated into the manufacturing settings to aid us in the completion of this task or even perform the task for us. Two options that are very similar are a hydraulic actuator and a pneumatic actuator. While being very similar, they are also very different and each possesses their own advantages. The selection of the appropriate actuator is crucial to having the job completed in the safest and most cost effective manner.
