All of this then progresses into the third stanza. He sees a “yellow hare” but one is left to consider whether this in itself, is a metaphor for something else. Is it a real animal coming up from the ground he is running and being startled, or does he consider the soldier, or even the reader, in this thinking state, to be that yellow, cowardly hare. his objective summary is covering a Native American legend titled, “The Earth on Turtle's Back”. It describes in full detail how these indigenous people believed how the entire earth and our existence came about. In short, the author starts off this story with an impregnated woman, the “sky woman”. She has had a very disturbing dream of the tree in the center of the village being uprooted, so her husband (the chief) had the tree uprooted and the woman had fallen in. Because of this, the animals on the earth that was solely comprised of water feared the “sky woman” would die. This in turn caused the animals to save the “sky woman.”…
The three short stories- When Grizzlies Walked Upright, The Earth on Turtle’s Back, and The Navajo Origin Legend – all share a similar concept. The story The Earth on Turtle’s Back talks about before Earth even existed everything was water and there were birds and animals that swam around. Up, above the clouds, was a skyland where humans lived. In the end of this short story a small little muskrat brings up land from underneath the water and gives the chief’s wife a place to stand and live. In which she drops seeds to make trees and plants grow and so on. This explains the origin of how land was formed on Earth. The next story, When Grizzlies Walked Upright, talks about how a chief moved down to earth to live because he got tired of living in the bitter cold sky, but his…
On the other hand, the turtle symbolizes eternity, union, family and fertility. The main thing a turtle is seen as is a navigator. It plays a crucial part in Polynesian culture. A 240-million-year-old reptile with a skeletal precursor of a shell has been revealed as the grandfather of all turtles. Scientists have given it the moniker Pappochelys, meaning 'grandfather turtle,' in honor of its newly found position at the forefront of the turtles' evolutionary lineage.…
Manatees are a highly talked about animal in our society today due to the fact that they love to reside in shallow waters along the coast of Florida, thus exposing the top of their bodies to possibly getting hit by boaters. This has sparked a heated debate as to what actions should and shouldn't be taken to protect the West Indian Manatee.…

This textual evidence talks about how the world was created and what helped create the world and all of the things that inhabit it.…
Before this Earth existed, there was only water. It stretched as far as one could see, and in that water there were birds and animals swimming around. Far above, in the clouds, there was a Skyland. In that Skyland there was a great and beautiful tree. It had four white roots which stretched to each of the sacred directions, and from its branches all kinds of fruits and flowers grew.…
The Rattlesnake is Frederic Hemington’s newest bronze work. This piece is located in the Sid Richardson Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. Hemington created this bronze work in 1904 to tell the dramatic story of the American West. The Rattlesnake is Frederic Hemington’s 12th and final bronze piece, however many consider it one of his best. Hemington created this piece later in his life; it shows the fierce motion of the bronco, which is comparable to the startled horse in A Taint on the Wind that was also painted the same year.…
There are many animals in the world. Some of them as small as ants and some are even bigger than elephants. These animals live throughout the world, some in the gigantic oceans, some in the coldest of Antarctica or some in the hottest of deserts. These are the classes of animals, mammals, amphibians, birds, reptiles, and insect. Reptiles are cold-blooded vertebrates. They have dry skin covered with scales or bony plates, and they usually lay eggs. Reptiles can be classified into three groups, turtles, snakes, and lizards. There are lots of species of turtles, like the sea turtle who live in the oceans. They can be identified by their long, streamlined shell and their color range of olive-green, yellow, greenish-brown, reddish-brown, or black.…

In 1947 it was reported that over 40,000 Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles were nesting along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico and today only 200 Kemp Ridley’s remain on those grounds, making these sea turtles one of the most endangered animals in the United States. When I was younger I remember visiting South Padre Island and seeing holes a long the shore line with little eggs inside them, I also remember this man who drove up and down the beach looking for those eggs in a golf cart. I asked my mom “Why is this man taking away these eggs, won’t the momma be sad?” my mom then told me that these were in fact the eggs of the Kemp’s Ridley. I had no idea how that was relevant, I was six…
Loggerhead turtles have many significant adaptations to their current and past environments. Turtles of the family Cheloniidae have various morphological adaptations for aquatic life. Early turtles lost the capacity for aquatic propulsion by body and tail undulations when they developed a shortened, more rigid body form during the Triassic, as an adaptation for armored resistance to attack by predators. However, terrestrial body form with a carapace and walking-type limbs precluded aquatic locomotion and was preadapted for different types of propulsion. In the transition to aquatic life, the shell underwent minimal modifications. These were a lower more streamlined profile and an expansion of the plastrel lobes as an adaptation for swimming rather than walking. The limbs required…
In the article “Can the Desert Tortoise Be Saved?” By Mackenzie Carro, she states that in the boiling Mojave Desert there is a species called the Desert Tortoise, this species is going extinct due to ravens flying down from the sky and plucking them from the ground. The reason there are so many ravens is because tons of humans move there over the past 50 years. One of the main reasons there are more ravens is because the humans produce garbage which the raves eat, the humans make telephone poles that the ravens nest, because of all of this the ravens population has gone up 700%. This conservation group called Shield, founded by Tim Shields is using some new technology to outsmart the ravens. They are putting out plastic fake Desert Tortoise…
