Analysis Of Touching Spirit Bear By Ben Mikaelsen
“Do good and good will come to you”. This is a quote that to me is true. There is someone that learned the real value of good and life lessons, a young boy from minneapolis. This character is from the book Touching spirit bear by Ben Mikaelsen. Cole learned many life lessons, he learned how to behave, and most importantly he learned how to control his anger.

In the book “touching spirit bear” Cole learns how to control his anger and be more patient. He learned to blame himself for him problems instead of other people, he learned about carrying the ancestor rock and soaking in the pond, which helped him learn to release his anger. He understood from his first encounter with the spirit bear that anger doesn't solve anything. Being nice creates

Cole is a dynamic character and has defiantly changed throughout the story. I know this because at the beginning of the book he tries to kill the Spirit Bear and it says "Cole found courage in the Spirit Bear's stillness. It must have been scared. Why else would it just stand there instead of attacking? Cole felt his smoldering anger ignite"(Mikaelsen 64). In this example, Cole attacks the Spirit Bear simply because he thought it defined him. He also doesn't appreciate nature and thinks he can take it down. Cole thinks life is useless until he thinks about the baby sparrows. Cole thinks," The sparrows were so frail, helpless, and innocent. They hadn't deserved to die"(Mikaelsen 82). You can tell he defiantly has a change of heart when he…

In the novel one of the positive lessons I focused on was responsibility. When Cole returns home from his first time on the island after being mauled, Cole’s mother starts to take responsibility for most of Cole’s anger problems. Cole was neglected and treated as though he was unloved by his parents for most of his life. All of Cole’s life he was beat and unloved, his mother was drunk all the time and his father was violent,…

"I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live up to what light I have" (Lincoln). There are many lessons that can be learned from this quote. One is to be who you are and don’t let other people change who you are. Another is to be fair and own up to your mistakes and don’t push it onto someone lese to make yourself look better. The last thing that can be learned from this quote is to live your own life to the fullest and work hard at getting better at things you want to…

Right before the dance of anger ends, Cole learns how to forgive. He realizes that he needs to forgive himself in order let all the anger inside him leave. It’s very hard to face your anger and have forgiveness inside your heart at the same time. That is why he was very tired after he finally did it. I think this is one of the human natures. You learn to forgive a person who did something wrong to you, and after that, you’re not angry at him/her anymore. You can also forgive yourself of all the bad things you’ve done and you won’t be mad at yourself anymore. Forgiving is just a way of clearing your mind and having a fresh new start without…

Life is all about being happy. Being yourself and having fun, but also being wise and smart person and making right decisions are good structures a person can have. A perfect example of somebody that relates to this quote is Oprah Winfery. Oprah not only is a wise human being, who loves to help people, but she also loves to have fun, let loose, and just forget about her life for a little and just be herself. Oprah is honestly an admiration. She is a strong women who is willing to help any person in need. She may have everything handed to her, but she had to work for what she has now. Not only does letting loose sometimes make you a happier person, but it can also make you a wiser person because the people that aren't happy in life, are always the miserable ones. Being miserable can't make you happy or wise, can it?…

When faced with a challenge, it is easy to fold under the pressure, but taking the more difficult path is often more rewarding. I firmly believe that the best lessons are the ones that do not come easy. The errors that we make leave a lasting impression on our hearts, and in an attempt to avoid the desolate feeling of failing again, we must adapt the way we live. Effectively, we teach ourselves a better way. I intentionally use some vague language because I think resiliency…

"Always do the right thing. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest" -Mark Twain. Twain's quote represents an idealism that should be backwards, were doing right wont astonish people because it's universal. Sadly, our world lives in the idealism of Twain's quote. Yet, life is infused with change, consequently, enabling use to change Twains quote by trying to make right choices part of our lives.…

There are many proverbs telling of the value of good example in influencing others. One can be influenced for good by the good example of others. Yet I think many people learn a lot more from the bad example of others. I think that in my case I have been more influenced for good by the bad example of others than from the good example. I remember when I was little I saw faults in the conduct or character of others and remind myself not to make that mistake, act that way, be guilty of that. I noted the bad behavior and it was a lesson for me. Most of us have a lot more bad example around us than good example so it is the bad example from which we are more likely to learn. Sometimes we can notice different things in the character of others such as maliciousness, argumentativeness, dishonesty, laziness, etc. it can be a sort of object lesson for us on how not to behave. It is true too, of course, that bad example can influence people towards badness. One person sees badness and is repelled by it and it is an object lesson to him on how not to behave; another person sees the same badness and is attracted to it and copies it. Especially children learn by copying what…
