Tim Burton is best known for being a director, producer, and a screenwriter that blends the themes of science-fantasy, stop motion animation, musical themes, and horror. He has made horror movies with a hint of humor, and drawn characters that distinguish his unique style. When Burton was young, he would draw, watch horror movies, and read stories of Edgar Allen Poe on his free time. Burton later on won a scholarship called Disney-created California Institute of Arts. He did not feel at home working on a Disney film because "I was just not Disney material. He then left Disney to create “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure” in 1985. This soon became a huge hit, and lead him to his next film Edward Scissorhands in the 1990’s. It was frightening, touching, and funny which proved that Tim Burton could put together the idea of humanity and the empathy of the audience. This resulted in The Nightmare before Christmas in 1993 starring Jack Skellington (Chris Sarandon) and Sally (Catherine O’Hara). The musical story goes how Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin king from Halloweentown, got tired, and bored of the his annual routine of scaring people in the real world. He then accidentally stumbles into Christmastown which is full of bright colors, and warm spirits. He falls in love with the idea of him taking over the holiday, and trying it out for himself. He then comes up with the plan to kidnap Santa Claus, and take over the role, but doesn’t think of the consequences until the times comes.
