Thomas chose neon as a medium for the reason that light easily attracts the viewer’s attention and emphasizes ideas. Due to the bright light, it manages to say something out loud without the material or piece itself being too intense. I believe that the artist’s purpose of flashing the phrases “Successful woman” and “Angry men”, instead of keeping them lit like the underlines and slash, was to surprise us or to keep us waiting. Flashing lights is also another way to get the viewer’s attention and keep them from looking away due to the fact that our eyes keep going back to them. Bright lights forces our eyes to look at it, talk about it, and even go towards it. Additionally, the artist may have chosen the color yellow for the light as it is a powerful and intense color, able to invoke strong feelings and quickly grab one’s attention, which corresponds well with the viewer. The use of the underline also helped in allowing the viewer to retain the message as underlining is usually used to emphasize something, meaning it that something is important or that it should be remembered. The artist may have kept the slash and the underlining light to further emphasize the…

Sir William Ramsay, a Scottish chemist, and Morris M. Travers, an English chemist, discovered neon. Another important person is Georges Claude, a French chemist, who invented neon lighting around (1870-1960). Claude showed his first neon sign at the Paris Exposition of 1910. And then sold the first neon advertising sign to a Paris barber two years later. Around the 1920s, neon lighting had become popular in many parts of the world. In 1922, the Haaxman brothers brought the first neon signs to Holland. And in 1932, the first neon signs reached the United States.…

The red ones contain neon. I conducted this experiment the same way I did the previous three. Placing a diffraction grating over my eye, I was able to see a straight rainbow spectrum. The spectrum of the neon light had several bright lines.…

Neon is probably one of the most interesting elements, in my opinion. The name “neon” is derived from the Greek word for “new”. I chose to do neon because most of us encounter neon on a daily basis as opposed to other elements such as pure gold or silver. Our world is much more colorful as a result of neon. The symbol of Neon is Ne. It is also in group 18 of the periodic table so it is classified as a noble gas. The atomic number of Neon is 10. Neon is the 10th element on the periodic table. This essay will discuss the many uses of Neon and its origins as well as the scientific aspect of the element such as its electron configuration, physical properties and chemical properties.…

For example Neon is a colorless and odorless gas, however, when it conducts electricity the element turns red, which is what you see on signs, lasers, indicators, and more. Neon is a chemically inert element which is valued because it does not react with other elements. Ever since Neon was found, it has been used for numerous things and it has become one of the many vast elements of the periodic table.
