The main point of this essay written by the Dalai Lama is that all of our ethical actions do not only impact ourselves but everyone around us. Whether it is close friends and family or even complete strangers. Every action just starts a chain reaction. If we choose to act in a positive way then the result will be for the better of mankind, no matter how big or small. It is not about the size of the gesture it is about the effect is has on people. Just by saying “hello” to someone can cause their day to go from terrible to good. Since they are happy they might want to spread their joy to others around them, causing the world to be a much happier place. However, that is not always the case. Sometimes there are truly bad people in this world
