Analysis Of The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
The story starts off in Nazi Germany in the early 1940s. Eight-year-old Bruno and his family move to the countryside because his father was in charge of a concentration camp in Germany called Auschwitz. One day when Bruno was exploring an area that his parents said was out of bounds he came a cross a fence where a boy his age was on the other side. Bruno quickly becomes friends with this boy, Shmuel, and day after day Bruno visits him at the “farm”. Shmuel decided to tell Bruno that his father is missing and Bruno vows to help him find him. The next day the boys meet at the fence and Bruno changes into the striped pajamas that Shmuel provided and then climbs under the fence into the “farm”. The First inaccuracy that I noticed was that the characters in the movie is speaking in English with British accents. Since the story is set in Germany, the Characters would have spoken German with German accents. Another inaccuracy in the movie is that Shmuel and Bruno should have never met. In the real Auschwitz, children under the acceptable working age of twelve would have been killed within the first day of arriving at the concentration camp. Since Shmuel was eight years old like Bruno, he would not have survived multiple days living within the camp. Suppose he was allowed to live he would not have been able to become friends with Bruno. Inmates would not have been left unsupervised for long periods of time. Towards the end of the movie, Shmuel helps Bruno sneak under the fence and the two boys go off to find Shmuel’s father, who in reality was most likely dead. It would have been almost impossible to sneak into a concentration camp like Auschwitz. This camp would have been heavily guarded and not easy to sneak in or out off. The last inaccuracy that I found was that Shmuel referred to the camp inmates as being people like him, Jewish. Which is not entirely true. Although Auschwitz would have mainly been made up of mostly Jewish prisoners, the concentration camps were not just holding the Jewish people. These camps would have had inmates that were Jews, Gypsies, Soviet prisoners of war, Poles, Roma, and other nationalities as well. In conclusion, I would not suggest watching this

Breaking some rules, he steps outside the back door and walks down a path and sees a wired fence. As he comes closer to it, he sees a small child, a boy. Shyly, Bruno approaches the boy and says “Hello,” and tells him that he has been exploring. Minutes later, Bruno finds out the name of his new friend, Shmuel.     The movie “The Boy With the Striped Pyjamas” is a Holocaust drama, and it explores the horror of a World War II Nazi camp through the eyes of two 8-year-old boys; one the son of the camp's Nazi commandant, the other a Jewish inmate. After watching this movie, I felt motivated to find out more about the Holocaust. Although I already knew the main facts about it, seeing it from the point of view of two young boys really touch my heart. The friendship that these to boy share in the movie was just amazing. Even after Bruno found out why Shmuel was in the strip Pyjamas, Bruno was still willing to go out his way to go see Shmuel. In the movie I can really tell that Bruno really cared about his friend, after getting him in trouble. Bruno never gave up on their friendship and was willing to do anything for Shmuel to forgive him. Although Bruno is very young and does not really understand what is going to with the Jews, he is aware that he and Shmuel were not met to be friends. Just like Bruno’s father said “they are not really people at all” Bruno did not view anything wrong with his friend. During the movie I felt really bad for Bruno’s mother, even though she was aware of the world that her country was in. She thought the Jews were only being kept in the camps and they were being treated like everyone else. But that was not the case, after she found out that the Jews were being killed that’s when her whole thought changed. She did not want her children around this and she wanted her husband to put an end to what was taken place. She had a heart and realizes what was being down to the Jews was wrong and needed to stop. Her husband does not feel it’s so wrong and does not want to let his nation down. Bruno’s father does not realize the evil that is being done until his own child is affected by this.
