Introduction
Indian food? SpiceSky restaurant is definitely the place to be. This had been the answer in most Londoner’s hearts over the past two decades. This was attributed to the delicious Indian dishes and drinks that included Biryani, Idli, Gulab jaamun, Hadia among others. The customer service was also superb. The waiters and waitresses, most of whom were Indians did an excellent job explaining the delicacies on the menu especially to first time clients. Things have however changed in the past one year as sales have gradually declined. According to Ali, SpiceSky owner, advertisement seems to be the root cause. According to March (2013), other factors such as personnel management, changes in the market and the quality of the food have also contributed to the decline not only in sales but also profits the restaurant is getting.
Advertising is one of the major ways through which a company increases its prospective customers leading to a subsequent increase in sales and profits. The SpiceSky restaurant has been using the similar method of advertising its food products to the public over a long period. People often read newspapers but not to get details of where they may feed. People watch television and listen to radios for purposes other than knowing where they can stop over for food.
