Analysis of Mariah Cary's Hero
Mariah Carey’s Hero: Inspirational and Uplifting
Most people believe that a hero is a brave person who can help you in your time of need. Several musical artists have analyzed and have given their opinion on this subject. Mariah Carey’s hero is not about looking at somebody else as a hero but believing that the hero is you. In this song Mariah Carey expresses her thoughts of hope through: a metaphor of a long road, a hero that can be found in oneself, and a realization that life will go on.
Mariah first expresses the thought of hope by giving the metaphor of a long road in the song. She expresses that life is a “long road when you face the world alone, no one reaches out a hand for you to hold”. She is saying that life is like a long road that sometimes you have to travel it on your own. In these times you may feel like there is no hope and no hero to help you. However, if “you can find love if you search within yourself and the emptiness you feel will disappear.” This is significant because she is saying that even on the long road; you are not truly alone because you carry the love inside you. This gives you enough hope to carry on when you do feel like there is no hand to hold on to. In the end, we don’t need to feel hopeless on the long road if we realize that the hope is with us.
Another way Mariah expresses hope is by saying to find the hero in ourselves. Mariah believes that, “There’s a hero if you look inside your heart with the strength to carry on.” Mariah calls it the “hero” because it is the “hand for you to hold” and it is what is going to give you hope when you are going through the hard times in your life. The hero in yourself is just like the hero that you expect to come save you. They carry hope to you and help you move on with your life. It might be hard to grasp and search within ourselves to find that hero but one we do, we can go anywhere on the long road without feeling hopeless. The expressing of hope through a hero is perfect because

Emily Dickinson's Hope is the thing with Feathers describes what hope does for us. The poem's theme is that hope is always there, and gets us though our toughest times, but never asks for anything in return.…

In "Hope is the thing with feathers", hope is heard in troubled times and warms the soul, but isn't always rational. The poem says of hope, "That [it] perches in the soul" (2). Hope is described as constant, and as an irrefutable part of us. Hope is also, "sweetest-in the Gale" (5). People can have hope anytime, anywhere. Hope is welcome when all else has failed. However pleasing hope is, it, "sings the tune without the words" (3). Hope sounds nice, and promises much, but there are no words to back up the tune, and is mostly something to keep one going, not something that will ever amount to anything.…

The dictionary definition of a hero is “a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.” Now, while all of this is true, a hero can be so much more. A hero can be someone who would risk himself for the better of humanity, get what they need need accomplished done well, be a great leader, know when to do the right thing, and be morally balanced and virtuous.…

What is a hero? A hero to me is a person who is brave, has a bunch of courage and knows right from wrong. You don’t have to have a mask or a suit to be a hero. A hero is willing to help a person at anytime. A hero can kill their enemy with kindness. For an example I believe Jackie Robinson is an incredible, life changing hero. He had been the first African American to play in the Major League Baseball. He had played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. They played him and they had ended racial segregation.…

A hero is a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. This hero can be a family member, friend, or a stranger, pretty much anyone. It just depends on how you think about them compared to the definition of a hero. A hero could be a celebrity, mentor, or role model, but what’s the difference? A celebrity could be a hero because there famous and you have looked up to them since you were young. Your hero could be a mentor; a mentor is a person or friend who guides a less experienced person by building trust and modeling positive…

The language present in Emily Dickinson’s poetry is at times unclear, sometimes ungrammatical and can be found to be disjunctive. Dickinson wrote in distinct brevity, irregular grammar, peculiar punctuation and hand picked diction. Her poems were written in a circular manner, where she took the reader to one place and them swept them back to the beginning always relating one metaphor to the next. Dickinson was an intimate person throughout her life, and her poems reflect that lifestyle. Like her poems, she was never quite figured out. Dickinson wrote not for the audience to understand but for her own self expression by writing down the words as they came to her, with little regard to the conventional syntax or diction. In this poem Dickinson coveys a metaphorical description of hope through simple language to explain a complex idea present in everyone’s life.…

The hope of others could give hope to many and be a reason to live for some. Misha, an orphaned boy who has been adopted by a family, encounters a Jewish holiday, but since in the Ghetto there is so little, they are forced to make due with what they have. The father says “We ourselves will be the candle flames.”(161). This makes Misha feel happy. “…I could feel my heart getting warm…” he said on page 161. For a hopeless boy like Misha, the optimism of others gives the boy hope. Without the optimism of the people around him, Misha would be a orphan on the streets with no home, no loved ones, and no reason to live. From having nothing but the…
