The Temperance Act was significant in expanding America’s idea of a more perfect society, because by banning the manufacturing of alcohol, many factory owners realized it would improve workers output. But, beyond that, it would cut down on crime and poverty in the United States. Many people saw alcohol as a disease that needed practical treatment, and that as time went on, ones condition would decrease, and would lead to increased crime rates (Doc H). In 1851, Maine was the first state to go beyond simply just putting a tax on liquor, it prohibited the manufacturing and selling of all alcohol. This act was actually rather popular among some, and in the Eighteenth Amendment, was passed successfully. The idea was to eliminate as much crime and poverty as possible, to make America a more perfect society. There were even Temperance societies such as the the “Woman's Christian Temperance Union” which pledged its support of the Temperance Act in the Eighteenth Amendment. The washingtonians was founded in 1840 by recovering alcoholics who said it was a disease which just needed proper treatment. This was just one change that America was going through in order to better society, and expand their ideals.…

In 1919, just shortly after the conclusion of the first World War, the United States government ratified the 18th amendment, which finally brought Prohibition into play. This exiled the sale, consumption, and distribution of alcoholic beverages. This came during a time when America was in a period of transition, if you will. The Allied forces had just taken down the likes of the Central Powers, bringing peace into civilization once more. A hard-fought victory led the U.S. to believe that there was a time of some relaxation coming, but they were far from that. The passing of Prohibition only meant that there was another battle to be fought, and it was going to be amongst themselves.…

George Washington faced some few yet significant issues regarding the foreign affairs policy of the United States after becoming the first president of the United States of America. It had to do with the war between France and England that took place in the year 1793. The vinculum of the United States with the war was ineluctable as it was involved in trade relations with France. As a result, the British army had seized American ships that were carrying on the trade process with France. At this point of time, the United States needed to take an immediate decision that had to do with the extent of its participation in the war between France and England. Many people in the United States advocated the idea of United States supporting France in the war against England as France had done so for the United States in the 1770s nevertheless the United States did not do that. In fact, it signed a peace treaty with Britain, which was deemed unfair by many people but President George Washington took a prudent step at this juncture, fully aware of the fact that the United States was not capable of affording another war against England.…
It could be argued that Washington’s response to the Whiskey Rebellion was an overreach of federal power. However, Washington needed to make it clear to the American people that there was stability and that rebellions were not going to be a weekly occurrence. With the newly powerful federal government, it was important to show the states that the federal government was ultimately in power.…

George Washington gave a very heartfelt and meaningful farewell address. Not only was he attempting to help our country at that time with clues as to how they might make themselves better, he did it in a generous way. He kind of obviously hinted as to how they needed to make their coutry strong. There were two main warnings that he stated, in my opinion, would help our country be the best and strongest it could be.…
The government believed that the life of Americans would be better without alcohol, so the government tended to improve the situation by passing the 18th amendment. The goal of the prohibition was to have the men stay away from alcohol and go to work, and prevent the Americans from spending money on alcohol instead of daily supplies. However, the prohibition of alcohol seemed to have the opposite effects on American life. The spending on alcohol increased, and more and more organized crimes appeared. There were numerous bootlegging and speakeasies, which illegally sold alcohol to people. Ironically,…

The most important rebellion was Shays’ Rebellion because it gave this country the need for a stronger central government.…
