Being lonely does not have to do with how many people are around a person, it is a mindset. Emily Grierson, a character in “A Rose for Emily” written by William Faulkmer, was an odd lady within her community. For the majority of Emily’s life, if not all of it, she only had her father to rely on and when he passed she was left with nothing except for her house. Many times, such as her family coming to visit, the preacher meeting with her, and the authorities coming to her house on many occasions; others have tried to help her come out of her comfort zone for some human interaction.
