Analysis Of Donald Trump's Speech
Is Donald Trump really the ignorant man everyone says he is? On October 2, 2017 he seemed to prove many wrong by giving such a heartwarming speech in memory of the deceased during the Las Vegas shooting, which occurred on October 1, 2017.

The Las Vegas shooting as everyone knows was such an unexpected and morbid incident. It was expected for the president of the United States to give some kind of acknowledgement to the cruel event, and his speech was a good start. He really showed support to all the unfortunate families that lost a loved one and said to them “ We are praying for you, and we are here for you, and we ask God to help you see you through this very dark period.”

As I have seen through other publishers opinion articles, they say Trump’s speech was hypocritical, which I don’t agree to. Why hypoctritical you may ask? Well, some say that he read the speech exactly as written, implying that none of the words coming out of his mouth were thought by him. In other words, that Trump’s speech was not him, because of all the nice things he said, and because

He spoke kinds words, and showed sympathy for the families who lost a loved one. Families that listened to his words might feel in peace and safe listening to him. They know that Trump is sending his condolences out to them, and that he feels their pain. It is reassuring to know that your president is not leaving you in the dark, and has a moment to acknowledge the cruelty and sadness that happened during the shooting. During his speech we can tell he takes this incident seriously, and speaks in a very professional tone. He does not make any humorous remarks, which would honestly be the end of him if he did. Everyone would be speaking badly about him, like some already do, and he would not hear the end of it. In other words, there was nothing embarrassing about his presentation, which is a great thing, and something he should do more often to avoid

Sean Comb’s speech was “different” than the past speeches we have seen so far. It was not different in a negative way though. It was different in the sense that he was so informal with the way that he delivered his speech to the graduating class of Howard that it worked to his advantage. On top of that Comb’s was really proud and energetic for the majority of his speech. His humor was great and you can tell that the audience was feeling his vibe due to all the smiles and laughter in the crowd. I find it funny how he even acknowledged the fact that he was so lively to the point in which he states “I know the board of trustees are looking at me back here like this is not the regular type of commencement speaking that we used to. But it’s time…

On June 16th at his very own Trump Tower in New York City, Donald Trump announced that he would be running for president. It was only thirty seconds into his speech when Trump committed his first fallacy. In an attempt to insult the intelligence of his fellow GOP candidates, he compared their incompetence toward air conditioners to their supposed inability to beat ISIS. “They didn’t know the air-conditioner didn’t work,” “How are they going to beat ISIS?” This is a bad example fallacy due to his use of an example that fails to prove the conclusion and has little connection to it. Despite the complete lack of relation between Trump’s example and his conclusion, he was still able to provoke the audience into feelings of contempt toward the other…

In the article, “Donald Trump's Inaugural Address Was Great” by James Poulus, it is wrote that Donald Trump used quotes from speeches of other famous figures. For example, he used something from Theodore Roosevelt, Bill Clinton, and Bubba. It was about how great he will be for the USA. In the article, “Don’t Believe the Populism of Trump’s Inaugural Address. Our President Is a Plutocrat.” by Ryan Cooper, however, talks about the complete opposite. It says that he has promised us so many things and isn’t keeping his promises. Reading both articles it was very interesting to see two different perspective on the same speech. Ryan was on the negative side of things explaining he is more on the rich people’s side. While James was on the more positive…

Compassion is one of the most important emotions to get across in this situation. Before stating the names of those who were lost, he says “we mourn seven heroes” as a nation. Calling the men and women heroes shows their huge importance to America. It conveys how catastrophic he knows this is. He continues to be extremely complimentary of the crew, saying how they had that “special grace, that special spirit” that allowed them to be so fantastic in their work. He is upset about the accident, and knows the rest of America is scared and upset too, so he acknowledges those emotions. His sympathy is out in the open here. Appeals to emotion are a huge component in him conveying his…

“Disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger.” These words were used by George W. Bush to describe what he and many other citizens of America felt after the devastating attacks in New York City. It was a time for grieving and mourning. A nation was in shock. Because of this, pathos became a major part of his speech. He used these emotions to express the seriousness of the matter. Bush talks about the loss of loved ones, children who lost their parents, and the well-being of his people. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil.” He repeatedly mentions the strong patriotism of his American citizens and how so many of them went out of their way to help others in this time of…

“Despite Donald Trump’s strong use of pathos, he utilized a very limited amount of logos. He mainly used factual statements for the purpose of highlighting his emotional appeals. Statements such as,”The senate Subcommittee on Immigration has already identified hundreds of immigrants charged with terrorist activities inside the United States since September 11th.”, although logical, are designed to stir up the emotions of the audience. In his speech, Mr. Trump also said,”All of the September 11th hijackers were issued visas.” It is much more difficult to critique a candidate’s position if they are using fact to support it, which is why many politicians will insert a small amount of facts into an otherwise highly emotional speech. Both of the…

“Trump ran as a divider, not a uniter. He won that way -- offering safe harbor for people who had long resented politicians who told them they had to accept those who didn't look like them, sound like them or think like them” (Cillizza). Again, Trump used the propaganda technique, plain-folks appeal, to appear the same as the voters, in order to win the Presidential…

The confrontation that sparked massive headlines was with Jorge Ramos. Jorge is the reporter and anchor for Univision. Ramos attended a press conference of Trump in which Trump furiously acted upon by unfairly ignoring Ramos question. Ramos did not scream, nor did he act with force, as what Trump claims. Ramos simply asked a question as any reporter would and stated his question. Trump abruptly called for security to have Ramos escorted. Trump continues to claim, the reporter "screamed" at him. Trump was unfair on questioning and yelled out "go back to Univision" (CNN). Although, this is not the first nor the last Trump undermine the Mexican race. In a speech about immigrants, Trump claimed “all Mexicans are rapists, murderers, and bad people who bring drugs to the United States”. In fact, I would agree with Trump because yes, several Mexicans are murderers, mexicans are racist, and of course several smuggle in drugs because of the Mexican cartel. Indeed, I can say this is very true. However, so are Americans. Donald Trump can say all mexicans are criminals, but who's to say not all Americans are either. Of course, in lack of better terms, not all Americans are criminals but some are. That's the difference several supporters and Americans themselves need to…

In some people’s eyes, Trump is racist, one of the people claiming this is Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel said, “Remember last year when it seemed like the Oscars were racist?" Kimmel said to laughs. "It's fine, thanks to him." (www.washingtonexaminer.com) In factuality, he is a successful businessman that deals with people of many colors and his daughter/son-in-law are Jewish. Trump has made sexist comments to certain people or about women in general. Although, he brings his daughter with him most of the time and he has a right-hand man that is female. Trump is homophobic/anti LGBT+, saying his standpoint on same-sex marriage. “I have been against it from the standpoint of the Bible, from the standpoint of my teachings as growing up and going to Sunday school and going to church, and I’ve been opposed to it, and we’ll just see how it all comes out.” (www. After taking our seats, we waited almost three hours, and even Trump himself was late to his own party. The rally began in a group prayer to bless the central valley farmers, and then Trumps main campaign manager took the stage due to Trumps tardiness. For nearly 25 minutes, an anti-Hillary speech was performed that included the subjects of isis, bin-ghazi, and her role as secretary of state. I, myself, am not technically a Hillary supporter, but I thought that the speech was tacky and overdone. I was not attending a Trump rally to hear about Hillary; tell me what Trump is going to…
