Analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion is a very important process in telecommunications. Analog signals have lots of advantages, like in the video world. However, there are a few reasons why some industries still continue to use the conversion to digital. Digital conversion solves some of the issues inherited in analog systems. Analog signals are waves that represent data along the amplitude and frequency line. Before the introduction of digital transmission, analog transmission was used for radio, television, and telephones. Analog transmission duplicates the sound or image from where it was sent. The rise and fall in the current are the analog of the voice pattern. The digital signal is different from an analog because a digital signal is not as complex, a digital transmission uses pulses representing one bits and zero bits. Presently we use a combination of both analog and digital networks. In different areas of the network it is necessary to use analog and digital. Going from analog to digital allows broadcasters to deliver higher picture definition, because the signal can be compressed better than an analog signal. Compression lets stations fit more data in the signal. Doing this gives you a clearer picture when using digital television over an analog signal. Digital signals might get weaker the further it travels, just like an analog signals, but it won't loose it's quality. If you can get a signal, it will be clearer. There are some disadvantages as well with analog-to-digital conversion, like sensing of digital signals commands that the telecommunications system be synchronized, but this is not the case with an analog signal. Digital signals also commands greater bandwidth to transmit than it does to transmit the same information in an analog signal. Each signal has its advantages and disadvantages, but in most scenarios both need to work together to create an effective transmission.
