An Unfortunate day

Today was the most unfortunate day in my life. How could these bad things happen to me all the time?
The incident happened in the morning. Karl gave Ned and mearideinhiscartothebank. Ihadtodropbytogetsome money. When we arrived at the bank, I went straight to the counter. Just as I finished everything at the counter, two men wearing masks entered the bank. To my astonishment, a woman screamed and BANG, a guard fell on the floor. He was covered with blood from the waist down.
All the customers were scared and one of the robbers yelled, “Freeze, or I will shoot every one of you.” We had no choice but to follow the robber’s order. We all sat on the floor, waiting for the next instruction. Ned was petrified. His face was white as snow. He was sweating and asked, “ What’s going on?” I condemned, “Shut up, you idiot.”
The other robber, with long hair covering his ears and collar pointed a gun at the tellers and told them to stuff all the money into his bag. His partner pushed all the other staff to a corner at the far end.
Suddenly, Karl stood up because the robbers were heading to a car outside the bank. It was Karl’s car. Karl went purple with rage. He tried to stop the robbers but the long haired guy pushed him against the wall. They started punching each other. Karl scuffled with the robber. Suddenly, the robber took out his gun and shot Karl in his leg.
Finally, the robbers escaped with their grey canvas bag full of money.
It was really a terrible day. We all ended up in the police station! I hope such a thing would not happen to me

    The Unfortunate Dualism

My view of dualism is accurately depicted through Raymond Smullyan’s story “The unfortunate dualist.” Smullyan states the dualist belief that mind and matter are separate substances, however the dualist cannot explain how this phenomenon works. The problem I found with Smullyan story is that he fails to state whether the dualist is a substance dualist or property dualist. This makes a difference because the substance dualist believes that mind and body are separate and independent substances, while…

activities and have experienced cultural diversity, but this time was a little different. A friend of mine suggested me to go with him to visit American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco last week where there was a musical show called “ The Unfortunates”. Personally, it is the first time me attending theatrical performance in the United States. At that time, I was wondering where to go for this assignment because it requires cultural visitation, so I thought that would be the perfect one since…

rebellion in Haiti, which reveals that he was against the abolition of slavery. Because the document is a letter and not a public article (yet), it might have been easier for the author to express his true opinions. In his letter, he calls the slaves “unfortunates” and refers to their countries as “savage” and “barbaric”. He pities the slaves, but for the way their countries were, rather than for their enslavement. He assumes that the countries they came from were terrible, primitive places to live, and…

For example, I feel like a good portion of me is made up of Violet and Klaus Baudelaire from Lemony Snicket’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events” not even so much their personalities, but in how they handled they're terribly unfortunate lives with such hope and cleverness.…

Essay 2 Unfortunate Irony In the poem “Hope” by Ariel Dorfman the use of irony is what really sets and delivers the mood of this heart wrenching story. The author uses a very straight forward approach in this poem because they are essentially just telling the story, adding loose rhythm and rhyme structure. The best way for the author to get the point of this tragedy across is with subtle but profound irony. The mother and father finding “joy” in this horrible event is the best example of irony…
