Jesus also gave a rule of conduct which is applicable in all lands and in all ages, namely: "Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets." (Matthew 7:12). Because of its great value this has often been called the "Golden Rule". This perfect and complete principle does not forbid doing wrong to others, rather it encourages doing all the good to others that we would like them to do to us.…

This set of audits focus on the handwork and skills that a leader needs to possess. “A skill is the ability to use one’s knowledge to do something well.” These audits are important because a leader can have the right character, but not be competent enough to be a success in a specific position. In this second analysis Aubrey Malphurs in his book Being Leaders gives the reader seven audits to determine if they have the skill set that a Christian leader needs to be effective in the ministry. “Psalm 78:72 says that David led his people not only with ‘integrity of heart’ but also with ‘skillful hands.’”…

Today’s business leaders often have difficult tasks to achieve in turning around failing companies and galvanizing an overworked workforce fearful of losing their jobs, but their tasks do not outweigh those of the great Biblical leaders, such as Moses, who led the Israelites out of bondage, or David, who had to slay the giant before becoming a leader. The characteristics of a leader in the Biblical context still differs to some extent from those generally attributed to leaders in the secular context. Biblical leaders are courageous and decisive, for example. Moses’ leadership was marked by courage born of faith. Although his life was spared from Pharaoh’s decree that all firstborn sons would be killed, Hebrews 11:24 states, “By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.” In other words, he did not try to live a lie to protect himself from the decree but…

Deuteronomy 16: 19-21 is a very powerful verse that certainly gives insight into the life of a Christian and how we are called to live. The verse states that “You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you” (Deu.16:19-21). Deuteronomy was written by Moses in the late 7th century to the generation of Israelites bound to enter the Promised Land, and literally means “second law”. This book was written to the Israelites to demonstrate how they should live their lives in order to bring glory and honor…
