I have not come across of faced many moral dilemmas in my professional life, there is one issue in particular that I often remember, mainly because it was a stressful time in my life. Working as a customer care operator in call center is long hours, low pay and is highly stressful job causing personally and professional issues. It also leaves us, the customer service operators’ large sums of money to use on customers, per call. The company trained us, than trusted the employees to review customer accounts and adjust or add credit as we see needed, providing that we keep the company and the customer in best interest. As an employee I was fair, if the customer’s account was billed incorrectly or the customer was correct I gave the credit or adjustments and vice versa.…
Life is full of challenges and sometimes those challenges can be a hindrance to achieving our goals. Our personal lives can affect our professional lives a great deal for those who do not know how to balance both. When one is happy with life outside of work one is typically happy at work. When one has personal struggles then work life becomes troubled as well. There are some things that have stronger effects than others but when life seems to get out of hand personally it effects work motivation. Baack (2012) tells us that “motivation is what starts, maintains, and stops behaviors” (Chapter 4).…
People are often unfulfilled by the choices they make in their lives. The reason for this is that everyone has insecurities, no one will ever feel satisfied with their work, what they create. They fear the judgement of those who are close to them and those who are strangers. The reason this fear is created is because society norms are imposed on us. Societal norms are a set of guidelines that are commonly followed, shunning those who do not follow those guidelines. Societal norms affect our everyday lives because they make us insecure and influence us to do things that we normally would not do. De Botton expands on the idea of insecurities when he speaks of his insecurities of traveling. He…

There are four steps to making a decision making which is known as rational decision making. The four steps are 1.Identifying the problem or opportunity, 2. Thinking up alternative solutions, 3. Evaluating alternatives and seeking solutions, and 4. Implementing and evaluating the chosen solution. The two steps to nonrational decision making are 1. Satisficing and 2. intuition. ( Kinicki & Williams, 2016). In the rational decision making once you are able to identify what the situation may be you always think of ways that will help solve a problem or achieve a goal and put it into action. The decision-making style is based on the information that they have and what think about that information. The nonrational decision making is the decisions…
Personal differences and preference can impact organizational ethics by the perception of management and all the employees of the organization. When employed at many jobs during your career you are faced with multitude of individual differences and preferences. Someone’s personal differences does not affect the individual alone, but it affect others around them. I am a firm believer, that everyone should be treated differently in an organization, because everyone’s personality is not the same. For example, an employee has an out- going personality and enjoys being the leader of the group where as others may enjoy just working alone. However, that would be the personality that represents the overall profile of stable psychological attributes which captures the unique nature of that individual.…
