Television sets have become a large factor in some people’s everyday lives but at any opportunity, should be thrown out with the garbage. The amount of useless and meaningless programmes is unbelievable. The rare educational documentaries are rarely watched; often forgotten and destroying television can help people develop better lives.

When anyone presses a button on a remote and opens the television, in almost every case the programme broadcasting is nothing but senseless incomprehensible waste of time which would be gone forever. There is no logical explanation to the masses of people who avidly follow these soaps, cartoons and insults to science. What if time would run out, would these shows still be watched?

Along with these ridiculous creations of monstrosities, some channels show scientific documentaries or educational programmes. Sadly, many of these are disregarded and rarely ever watched unless they include killing or ‘cool’ special effects even though the information included is easy to understand and fascinating, but television is all about spoon feeding information directly so no thinking occurs.

By banning television addicts at first may feel confused and with no idea what to do with their time. With a little help from experts or just family and friends they can develop positive habits and their lives would be greatly improved.

Every television set should be taken and instantly incinerated or stored in a high security vault never to be opened. Still, although Television sets have become a large factor in some people’s everyday lives but at any opportunity, should be thrown out with the garbage. The amount of useless and meaningless programmes is unbelievable. The rare educational documentaries are rarely watched; often forgotten and destroying television can help people develop better lives.

As one of the issues that affect children because they watch too much television is health wise. When the television made its first debut in the early to mid 20th century it came with good intentions. This idea of good intention however did not last long with the critics. As early as 1961 the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission referred to television as a “Vast Wasteland,” (351). Many other critics would come to share in his beliefs about television. There have been numerous books, articles, essays, and research done on the subject of television and its negative effects on children in particular. Marie Winn’s article is just one of many.…

They are tired of dismissing it as a mere distraction or else resenting it as the “evil twin” of universal education. Most of us, after all, like watching what we consider to be worthwhile, informative, or entertaining. Most educators are aware that the bumper-sticker invocation to “kill your television” has an ostrich-like impracticality. In the current political climate, the political options generally presented to deal with television have been, at best, fairly limited reactions to television’s perceived excesses. If we are to have a television system whose goals have more to do with public service than commerce - whether that means a greater diversity of images and representations, less commercial interruption, more documentary programming, or more educational children’s programs - we need to develop a citizenry that appreciates the politics of regulation and funding, to thereby imagine what television might be, and how the system might be changed to make it so. The challenge for media literacy, we would argue, is to make this possibility seem less…

Some behaviors that people show with televisions are the basic uses of it. Usually there is a remote that comes with the television. Watching television might seem like an easy and fun way to kill our time, but is time the only thing it kills? For instance, “Unfortunately, our old friends greed and sloth entered the picture and transformed it into a 24-hour ad-plastered, brainwashing, individuality bleaching, stereotyping, couch-potato making tool of society” (Corbett Trubey). Television is clearly considered the best source of entertainment we all have; however, sitting on a couch brings nothing but a lazy habit to most of us. That lazy habit is what keeps us coming back for more entertainment but once we’re being entertained, we don’t realize the addiction. The strong addiction we have towards television kills more than time, it internally kills the viewers. The way they think slowly changes.…
