An Essay About XADAM
XADAM (Xavier's Academy of Dance and Music) is one of the Societies in St Xavier’s College Kolkata.
AP got to know about this society from his friend Dravid. They both decided to go for the audition conducted by this particular society. There were about more than 100 students who had come for the audition and only 8 of them were to be selected. Dravid went up on stage with his bass guitar and started playing one of AP's favorite song 'Pichle saat dino mein' from the movie Rock On.
The Director of XADAM, Sujata Ma'am commented," I like it but try next year!"
Dravid had no such intention to join XADAM. He just went up on stage for all his friends.It was now AP's turn to go up on stage. He was confused which number to play. He decided to play

They continued talking for a while. Not a single day they spent without talking about their school. AP was happy that he was selected in XADAM. But he had no idea about the level of Politics associated with XADAM until one of his hostel senior told him.
"Bro I suggest you not to join XADAM! They hardly give chance to the first year students and also a hell lot of Politics is involved." said one of his senior, Akshay to AP.
AP-I actually thought it would be a great exposure! But okay! No issues!
Akshay- You should actually join AICUF, it will help you to develop your leadership skills.

They draw their inspiration from the person and life of Jesus Christ. The AICUF motto is: "We are born in an unjust society, and we are determined not to leave it as we have found it."
Associate membership is given to students of other faiths who share the ideologies of the AICUF as enshrined in its Constitution and the West Bengal State Policy Document. It is mandatory for all the Catholic students to join this society. There are 22 units in West Bengal. In Kolkata itself there are 12 units - five at St. Xavier's (Bengali, English, Hindi, Santhali and XIA). Within the WB AICUF there are Adivasi Yuvaa Chetna Manch (AYCM) and Womens' Commission, which have been formed for specific purposes.
AICUF organizes a plethora of Events. They are as follows- Orientation Day, Celebration of the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Santal Hul, Spotlight, Adivasi diwas, State Puja Camp, Celebration of the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, AICUF State Council Meeting, AICUF Day, etc. AICUF also adopted a village named 'Ghotomath' and it helps the children of that particular village in all respect.
