When talking about place or time sensation, I can be picky because when I sit down to write it needs to be quite and I need to be calm and not stressing out about something.

2. It takes me a little longer to write because I’m the type of person that can’t just sit down and stay focused for a couple hours and finish an essay. Instead I get a better grade when I take breaks in between and get my mind off of it and then start writing again. This method really helps me because it improves my ideas by helping me think of more creative.

Out of all the steps in my writing process, I believe prewriting was the most helpful. In prewriting you’re supposed to let your thoughts flow without stopping and making changes. So because I didn’t take the time to stress on proper grammar and more, I was able to start my first draft faster. Prewriting also helped me narrow what I wrote into groups, in this case the importance of rice in my family. Not only did prewriting help me narrow my writing into groups, but it also helped me, who was struggling, to find topics to talk about.…

There are many ways you can learn to write. I believe these three ways have some of the biggest influences on a persons ability to write. The first would be creativity. Creativity from the writer gives the reader a good picture of what is being portrayed. The next would be grammar. Grammar has a large influence on a writers ability as it helps make sense of the story being told. The writers ability to read also helps influence their writing, by reading other writers pieces and getting idea to create their own style of writing and transforming it into their own. One thing that hinders a writers ability would be a disability, such as dyslexia. Dyslexia makes it hard for one to illuminate words, letters and symbols. There are many things that…

Writing is not something that comes natural to me. Writing is a very long and tedious process mainly because I have to collect all my thoughts and try to put them into grammatically correct sentences. I have written many shitty first drafts in the past 17 years of my life. For example, my last English teacher, which I hated with a burning passion, made my class write an essay about a monster. No not a monster like chupacabra but instead a monster in the positive connotation. I wanted to write about my celebrity mom but the girl in front of me picked Beyoncé ahead of time so I had to settle for the next best thing, One direction. One Direction, at the time, was a really big deal to me. I had been a fan since middle school and I pretty much knew everything about their life’s so the…

This is what Bill Bonner and Michael Masterson (whom I consider my mentors and two of the world’s best copywriters) have always suggested: If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: 1. Read a lot 2. Write a lot There’s no way around these two things, no shortcuts. If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time (or the tools) to write. As simple as that. Reading creates an ease…
