An Analysis Of Takenouchi No Sukune Meets The Dragon King Of The Sea
“Takenouchi no Sukune Meets the Dragon King of the Sea” was made by the Sanseisha Company ( 1875 - 1940 ) in 1879–1881. Living as long as 150-360 years, Takenouchi was a famous warrior that served many monarchs during his time and most famous was empress Jingo Kogo. He then slew a sea monster that rampaged nearby towns and seas when he dreamt of a quest given by him from the heavens above. Thus, the sculptures above uncover the interaction between Takenouchi and the Dragon King, Ryujin. In the display above, Ryujin is presenting Takenouchi a jewel that allows him to control the sea. Made entirely of bronze and glass, the creation above is very detailed in portraying the event between human and monster. These details are clearly portray on the
