An Analysis Of Selena's Legacy
On March 31, 1995 an astonishing person was taken away from this universe. Selena was murdered by Yolanda Saldivar, her fan club president. Even though Selena was taken away from us before her career could go international, she still holds a very special spot in music history and our hearts. 60,000 people attended Selena’s funeral. This showed that she had an impact on her fan’s lives. Her family carries on her legacy by sharing her life with others through documentaries, books and albums. A.B. Quintanilla continued his passion for music in Kumbia Kings and Kumbia All Starz continuing what his sister sought out to do. Suzette carries on the legacy by managing the museum inspired by her sister and the family music company. Just recently MAC

    In effect, by glossing over Selena’s transition into the Latin American the film Selena ignores her accomplishments in the Latin American market which was not easy to enter.     Different areas that speak Spanish have different dialects. Some of these areas do consider people from other areas to be outsiders. An example would be people from Mexico are not necessarily accepting of people from Puerto Rico because they consider the Puerto Ricans to be outsiders even though they are both Spanish speaking countries.
