An Analysis Of Couples 'Penelope's Despair'
What is Love? Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. But is to love, to live? Many would think so, many would disagree, and there are others who are undecided.

I believe that the statement, “to love is to live”, does not apply to those who aren’t in love, or have never loved before, but there are many people who are happy with their lives the way it is. For example: priests and nuns. They have dedicated their lives to the church and in doing so, commit to not falling in love with another person, but are very content with their lives. There are also cases where love can turn violent in jealous rages. In the poem, “Penelope’s Despair”, Penelope’s husband who had been missing for 20 years returned back to her and killed all of her suitors out of jealousy. Love can also be tough. Couples endure hardships; they have their arguments, fights, and disagreements. Although two people are in love, It may be the most troubled time in their lives.

These people probably have perfect relationships. Those who are in love often say they are rejuvenated or feel very alive and happy. They say that they have never felt happier before love. There are cases where individuals, before love, were very sad and lonely, their lives were miserable, did not feel happy at all, until they met the person they fell in love with. They feel, “born again”, and feel like they’ve just woken up and began living life. Love also gives you a reason to live your life to the fullest and work hard. People also have their loved ones to get through hardships. Just knowing the fact that they have someone is enough to get through whatever their troubles may

Those who do not follow the pattern are generally seen as hermits who sit in their houses with multiple forms of pets to keep them company. This burden life throws at human beings growing up, turns into a moral value. People want to find someone that makes them so happy that their heart hurts when they’re not with them. What is love? I never knew until I was fourteen year old at my first horse show. My family has always told me that when I loved someone or something unconditionally for exactly what it was without expecting anything in return, and when I was away from whatever I loved I would feel like something was missing, and only then would I truly understand love. At that first horse show I understood what they told me. For me my first horse show changed my life, it made me feel so alive and I never wanted to leave. Everyone has their own definitions of love but mine is for a series of events and is much different from the typical "love" that most people understand.…

I would agree, for me I see things in a much brighter light when I’m around the person that I love. I have more determination to do well and have a better attitude towards things. Love means many different things to many different people. Some people think of love in a romantic or sexual way. Some think of love from friends and family or even a pet. One only gets one chance at life so it should be a life where one can experience every part of the journey. Love is a huge part of that experience. If one never loved then they will be missing one of the biggest journeys of life and would later in their life regret it. Also, if one never experience love one wouldn’t know what that is, so they can’t decide for themselves if it was worth it for them or not. The main character in “the long walk to forever”, Newt, is an example of someone who tries very hard to experience this journey. When he first showed up, he wasn’t sure that it would turned out how he wanted, but despite that fact he still told Catharine his feelings towards her. He went and talked to her because he doesn’t want to regret for not taking any action of what could be one of the best things in his life.
