Amicalola Falls: A Short Story
I had mosquito bites all over my arms, neck, and leg. I thought that the itchiness would never end.

Help me Tamara. I screamed.

Tamara looked back and saw that I needed help and came back to help me get rid of the mosquitos that were biting me over and over.

Be careful next time Samantha. Tamara told me.

Once we finished I couldn’t stop thinking her for helping me that we got lost and went up the trail and found her parents standing by a sign the read: Keep on this trail for three mile and you will arrive at Amicalola Falls.

How awkward it is to come home to a young stranger in your kitchen and your wife upstairs packing her suitcase. In the story, “Great Falls” by Richard Ford, an unusual example of a marriage gone wrong is given, but at the beginning of the story it was said that, “This is not a happy story, I warn you” so I guess it wouldn’t be such a surprise when the story ends so sadly. The mother in the story had obviously not married Jack for love because on page 41 she simply left him for a young and good looking man by the name of Woody even after saying, “He doesn’t love me, Jack” when Jack was considering blowing Woody’s head off. She left her son Jackie and husband Jack for Woody that night without hesitation and the son wished he hadn’t…

Josh and I went to Noccalula Falls today. We were walking through the Pioneer houses, and I spotted a very intrigued young boy. I said, " these houses were built in 1777. That's pretty awesome, right?" His mother chimes in, " Wow! That's just one year after America was settled." The Social Studies teacher in me wanted to scream. I walked away mumbling under my breath, "Spain settled in Florida in 1565. Britain settled in Virginia in 1607. Lady, you are way off the mark." But I can see why she would think 1776. I decided to let it go. Five minutes later we are visiting some animals. I hear the mother say, " Is that a lion or is that a tiger? How are we supposed to know the difference between the two?" Josh had to restrain…

Hey Tom! I didn't know you were still back on the West Coast. We are getting some snow right now! Right now, I'm waiting to hear back and do some phone interviews for parks in Boston and DC. I'm also waiting to hear back from two teaching interviews I did this past week for the possibility of working the rest of the school year. If I get one of those public school teaching opportunities, I'm going to try to come back for another enlistment at Valley Forge during the summer. Take care! -Russell.…

The Zika virus is transmitted through the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito. This brings a big threat into our lives, as we are in areas that consist of mosquitos frequently. Its most common symptoms are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis: generally are mild and last from a few days to a week (‘’Zika virus’’8). With the Zika virus spreading like wildfire from mosquito to human, we have to be more onboard with promoting bug spray to protect against the bite of mosquitos.…
