    Fantasia Barrino

My first choice would have been a movie called Freedom Writers, however, since Brittany has already discussed it I’ll discuss another movie. The movie that is the next most powerful story I know is called “The Fantasia Barrino Story: Life Is Not a Fairy Tale.” Most of you probably have seen it before, if not you probably remember Fantasia Barrino whom was the winner of American Idol: Season 3. When Fantasia Barrino was in high school she was raped, she felt so alone after the attack and thought no one would believe her so she dropped out of school. Now Fantasia was a teenage dropout who had no money, no education and no chance at a real future. At 16, Fantasia found herself in an abusive relationship that left her pregnant and lost. But she refused to give up on her dreams. This movie tells how this inspiring young single mom used her incredible voice to become an American Idol, as well as a Grammy®-nominated, platinum-selling recording artist. This movie was very emotional because when the movie got towards the middle I was crying my eyes out. This movie has made Fantasia Barrino my idol and it had a really huge impact on me because my story is similar to hers so I can relate. The author of this movie had an effect of her audience by the way the movie was interesting from beginning to the end. Another way is because this movie is very encouraging to young women and even some men too. In my narrative next week I would like to write about never giving up on your dreams.…

I believe you promote a negative self-image to women. Personally watching your show upsets me in many ways. As a young adult I still look up to actors, actresses and models. But you also have to remember you have a younger crowd of girls that also watch your show. Little girls from the age of 8 or younger watch Americas Next Top Model. My younger sister would watch your show till my mom would send her to sleep. She used to walk around in heels and wear my mothers revealing clothing all throughout the house because she wanted to be “a model like the one on TV”. I don’t believe at an age like that, girls should be watching your show and be exposed to those kinds of things. Kids are kids, so my mom laughed and didn’t think anything of it. Until it happened time after time and my sister started to say she wanted to be skinny and sexy like the models. Do you think that’s a proper thing for a kid to say? I don’t believe any parent would want to hear their child say that or want them to act like that.…

Have you ever been influenced by someone you’ve never met? Maybe the person is a famous movie star, or a super hero, or even a singer. In my case, I have been most influence in the art of dance by Chachi, or Olivia, from America’s Best Dance Crew’s “I aM mE” performers. Every single one of them had shocking dance moves and stunning stage presence, but Chachi outshined them all. She has carried on to inspire me throughout her bravery, hard work, and performance throughout her entertaining career.…

    Hip Hop

Hip-hop music is known as one of the most popularizing and popular genres in our modern society. Most of hip-hop music is considered vulgar, offensive, and meaningless, which can be easily displayed by hip-hop artists such as Soulja Boy and Lil’ Wayne. However, who gets lost in translation is the artist who conveys true meaning in their lyrics and sticks with the original roots of the music. For hip-hop’s short life, there has been dramatic change in the structure and culture of the music. Most of the well-revered artists of their time like to claim that the music has lost its substance. I have a concurring belief in that if hip-hop wants to rid of its negative stereotype, it should emphasize its roots more often. Two of hip-hop’s most respected authors, Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton, agree with this belief by stating, “hip hop today thrives on a sense of its own past” (Williams 133). In order to clarify my belief on this subject, I want to explain hip-hop’s origins and its positive impact on our society when it follows its roots.…
