American Trophy Hunting Research Paper

More than ten million animals are reported killed by hunters each year. That number does not include the millions of animals that are maintained by state wildlife agencies. Hunters have strived for years to convince the public that hunting is good for the wildlife by arguing that hunting helps control the population of a species. Hunting should be outlawed because hunters are not killing animals for food and clothing there killing them for sport and money.
There was a time when man killed animals for food, clothing and shelter. Now people kill animals for trophies and to stroke their egos for bragging rights. “Every year, tens of thousands of wild animals, representing hundreds of different species, are killed by American trophy hunters in foreign countries” (“Trophy Hunting”). “The heads, hides, tusks, and other body parts of most of these animals are legally imported to the United States by the hunters” (“Trophy Hunting”). “Many animals imported as trophies are members of species protected under the Endangered Species Act, such as leopards and African elephants” (“Trophy Hunting”).
