American Slave Diary
I was rubbing my hands into my Masters' hair, his blonde bushy hair was covered in soap. As the water ran down his face he told me how grateful he was to have me as a slave. My heart-beat rose, I was blushing, my hands were shaking, I started daydreaming about what a great life we could have, we would travel the world, and have a happy…” “NONA!! HURRY UP, MY EX IS COMING TODAY”. I rushed my fingers firmly through his hair. I was about to stop the water, but Otho, the second slave, barged into the bathroom panicked. “MASTER, MASTER” he shouted, biting his nails “ we must get out of here, …show more content…
I caught up with him before I could say anything he commanded me to find Lucia, his ex. I rushed outside and saw her calmly make her way over to the big crowd of panicked people. She was flipping her golden blonde hair from left to right. “LUCIA, LUCIA” I yelled impatiently “HURRY UP” it was so loud everyone was panicking, little kids lost their mothers. Everyone was panicking, a young lady lost her kid, she was crying and begging people to help her find him. Lucia and the master talked behind a big white building, I wasn’t so sure of what they said, but I heard the master say something like “we don’t have time, we must do it now”. I was so worried it was about me, my heartbeat rose again.
“Let’s go, we can go through the Marina gate and get onto a boat” the master calmly commanded. The master, Lucia and I started running, there was black ash behind us, lava spilling everywhere, the volcano was mad. We made it to the Marina gate. People rushed to get a boat, everyone was escaping, it was crazy. The volcano got angrier and louder, it was darker and deadly. We got onto a boat, it was hard to paddle, the wind was taking us towards Stabiae. We worked together and slowly made our way towards Capri. We were about to get off the boat but a massive rock was falling our way, I looked up and all I saw was a big black figure that was about to crush me. It fell on us and killed all of

A look at chapters V, VI, and VII of Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl revolves around a teenage slave girl and the control placed over her by her slave owner. The passage goes to reflect the atrocities placed over many slaves of the south in that time. It goes to show that these poor individuals had no power over the system in place over them and that they had to submit to the rule of those masters above them regardless of how heinous the act was. These acts were not unique to just her but was known to happen to many slave girls throughout the south. Slaveries affect on the south was made very apparent in the early to mid 1800's. Slaves made up 1/3 of the southern populations and was making its way further west into eastern Texas. At the…

The worst condition I read about what was Thomas Phillips. He said that other captains of ships told him to cut body parts off of the slaves. He said he couldn't bring himself to do that. He said that the other captains cut off there legs to make a example to show the slaves that they shouldn't act up. If I had to do a job like that I would feel terrible treating them like that. To cut off the legs or arms of someone that would scar me for the rest of my life. The crew had to feel terrible to treat the slaves that way. If being a crew member was the only way I could survive I would treat them as well as I could. I would try to bring them water if I could. I wouldn't be able to watch them transport the slaves. It would be horrible to have to…

Harriet Jacobs provides a firsthand narrative on the issue of slavery and the injustices associated with the actions made by the men and women who owned slaves. Within the first few pages of her retelling appropriately named “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl” the reader is made aware of the long and troublesome plight that Jacobs is made to endure because of the color of her skin. The troubles brought to light by her writing address how being a female slave is particularly more taxing than being a man and how the slave holders respond to any type of resistance.…

Life as a slave was very difficult. As many as 4.5 million slaves were working in Southern plantations in the early to mid-1800’s. There were two types of slaves; field slaves and house slaves. People think that being a house slave was easier but this proves that theory wrong. Slaves had terrible environments, were separated from family and friends, and were sometimes beaten to death. Whites knew that slavery was wrong and immoral. Though, it still continued.…

Have ever wondered if African Americans in the South used to live a normal life or if they lived a unpleasing life? The southern population had a total population of 12 million people and 3.8 million were enslaved African Americans. They went from resisting slavery to developing culture and religion. The role of cotton production and agriculture all played big roles in the lives of African American slaves in the south. The life of African Americans in the south were mostly based on southern farms, plantation and the cities. Many slaves suffered severe suffering or privation so they resisted and endured. While some enslaved people attempted to rebel openly against slavery, others resisted by running away, refusing to work, or destroying farm…

Slavery is the captivity of another person for servitude without that person willing consent. Slavery made its mark on American History. The pain that slaves endured was cruel and harsh. They gave their lives so that we, African Americans could live in this world but many of us take that for granted. My interpretation of what slavery was is a simple, people being apart from their families and being owned and told what to do and being put to work for little of no wage. Slaves had no rights. Some people don’t understand what slaves went through on a daily basis. Owners could do whatever they liked with their slaves. Often this included inflicting harsh punishments. A slave would be punished for resisting slavery, not working hard enough, talking too much or using their native language, stealing from his master, murdering a white man, trying to run away.…

Everywhere he went and as much as he tried to think about something else all he could think about was spending a night in that awful, dark, and twisted house. Right now Charlie was at school. It was the last period of the day and only 1 minute left until he could talk to Tommy, Charlie’s best friend since he was 3 years old and unlike Charlie was shy but was always smiling. ‘Ringggggg’ The bell finally rang and Charlie rushed of to find Tommy at his locker. When he got to Tommy’s locker, Charlie found a note on it that read, ‘If you ever want to see your beloved friend again come to ‘Tierra Mala’ tonight at midnight and prepare to face the challenges that await you here.’ As soon as Charlie finished reading the letter, a look of agony and confusion aroused on his face. For several days, he hadn’t discussed ‘Tierra Mala’ with anyone else but Tommy, who had been abducted by someone. Charlie suddenly stashed the note in his backpack and ran home to start packing for Tommy’s escape. When he was running home, as fast as he could, Charlie thought he was seeing a small black figure, who disappeared as soon as he was seen, like a shadow, who made no large movements, and who got larger as Charlie ran faster. Suddenly, Charlie realized that he had finally reached his house and ran…

She stood there, her heart pounding so vigorously; it was all she could hear. Tears rolled down her face, crying silently not being able to comprehend all that was happening around her. For what seemed like years, all she could see was her beloved mother pleading tears of agony as her so called ‘father’ stood there and abused her. Desperately wanting to stop them, yet not wanting to be seen she waited patiently in the corner, praying for the torment to end.…

"In the woods, we found an old abandoned building filled with medical supplies. We decided it was probably fine to check out so we went inside. There were strange paintings and markings on the walls, like an insane asylum. There was one room with a light still on. M-my sister walked into the room," I stuttered beginning to tear up, "I heard her scream and I ran into the room to see this thing eating her. I ran out of the building before he spotted me, but there were more everywhere. I ran to my parents with a crowd of them behind me. We managed to get off of the island, but my sister was one of them now."…
