Looking at our world these days and watching the news all you see is where a new mass shooting happened and how many people died, a new terrorist attack, or something about animals. #BlackLivesMatter and all of these racial issues going around the US. We are always hearing about all of the bad things in the world and how terrible our world is becoming. We are concerned with letting these refugees in the United States because they are “probably terrorists” and everyone is so scared. Look at where these people are coming from and what they are giving up to come to a better place where they are trying to get away from extremists that will kill them if they don’t say the right thing. All the news has to broadcast about is what celebrity raped what people, riots over police brutality, mass shooting, terrorists, refugees, and these funny cute animals. What is wrong with our country? Pollution is at an all-time high, we are stressed out about how every country is out to get us, and we are back to the 1960’s with all the racial issues. Auden had great hope for our country and I’m glad he did but unless you can change every single person in America our country will continue to plunge down the toilet faster and faster. Our government used to be for the people to keep them safe and have their best interests in mind, look at the government now. They are in it for the power, money, and fame. They don’t care about what we want or what is best for us. Look at the debt, the millions drinking poisoned water, the homeless, and the unemployed. Walk down the street and find a homeless man. While you sit there and watch him people come by and give him money and tell the person to get drugs or alcohol. Then find someone with kids, they get nothing. Veterans that have fallen in hard times because they are suffering with mental and physical illnesses are kicked in the pants and

    I am very emotionally conflicted about immigration in America today. My father’s side of my family has been in this country for around 90 years, emigrating across the Atlantic from southern Italy. My mother’s side has been here for about 50 years, coming from a French town in New Brunswick. I can imagine how difficult it was to come to a new country that wasn’t fond of foreigners, get a job, a raise a family. It’s still the same now, Mexican immigrants come into the country looking for work in a somewhat hostile environment. I hate that illegal immigrants sneak into this country, and take labor away from Americans. But I’m conflicted because America is a nation of immigrants, and if this land belongs to anyone its definatly not White Anglo-Saxon Protestants, it’s the Native Americans. In the current presidential race, some candidates don’t want immigrants in the country. But it’s usually those same candidates who give tax cuts to the wealthy and couldn’t care less about working class folks or their jobs anyway. The whole terrorism scare with immigrants is a bit tricky. I believe that there could be terrorist cells in this country, but with basically all of these guys being extremist Muslim, how can our police force, with its inefficient and bureaucratic system, go after these bad guys without being criticized for being racist and religiously prejudiced?     From Syrian refugees to Mexican refugees to African refugees, America has been experiencing an over flowing amount of immigrants entering its borders. With such an overwhelming amount, the process of becoming a legal citizen of America is a long and dainty process that on average can take about 10-15 years. Since the process is so time consuming, many of these immigrants migrate to America illegally and never take the proper steps toward becoming a legal citizen. This is where the Americans begin to bear the burden because since most immigrants don’t work towards their citizenships they stay here in the US and live off of the government and it’s the Americans who are stuck paying for these immigrants through their tax dollars. Another issue with America allowing so many immigrants into its borders is the increase risk of possible terroristic attacks and drug issues.     Coming home to your loved ones missing is devastating. Imagine a girl, fourteen years old, comes home to no one. Immediately, she knows what has happened. Not seeing her family anymore was a constant fear. Now, the situation is a reality. Her and her family migrated to the United States in order escape fateful death, yet taking a chance to gain freedom was worth the danger of being caught. She has nobody to help or protect her. In order to create a free and happy life for herself, she must figure out a way to survive in order to never go back to her native country where she faces religious prosecution. Human beings should not live in constant fear because their country does not allow the simple right of religion or freedom of speech. Because of the issue of deportation, thousands of children are left without their family because their parents were not granted citizenship.     PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion.
