In my opinion, the most important idea I have learned this semester in American History was the real cause of the Civil War. In modern day America, we find that Americans believe that the Civil War was only about slavery. This has lead our generation to believe
Southerners are racist, however the reason the Southerners lost is why we have such an oppressive Federal Government. Without a doubt, the white men wrote our history books, therefore there are many gaps we don’t get to see.
