America Is The Land Of Opportunity Essay
Do you think America is the land of opportunity for all people? In my personal opinion, it depends on the person, because if you have someone with a lot of passion, they are hardworking; will go after what they want, will not stop till they get it, and then America is the land of opportunity for them. This is because America has much to offer people if they will just work for it. However, if you have someone who gives up easily, will not fight for what they want, don’t want to go get a job, then it is not going to be the land of opportunity for them. They want America back where others can have the American dream. Also, Governor Nikki Haley of South Carolina and Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, both have hard-working immigrant parents that left India to come to America. In many countries you are born into a social class where you cannot advance no matter how hard you work. This just goes to show that in America, hard work, good management, saving, and determination all pay off in achieving the American dream. Another great thing about America is that we have free public education, and women's rights. With our liberal government, the gains from nine generations is going downhill. The middle class who has had family businesses for hundreds of years are now going bankrupt. Many people are on welfare and food stamps while others are working two or more part time jobs. The fact is that there are more criminals in today's society than the prisons will hold (pg.212), and liberal judges put criminals on probation and then they do even worse things. Usually in our society today, many from the lower social class are the main ones to commit a crime. This is because they have too much time on their hands, and have many bad influences that often cause peer pressure.
