Alternative Learning School Online Information System
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Technology knows no boundaries. In today’s world, technology is constantly changing. It is significant in everyone’s life because it rapidly changes and evolves. One technological breakthrough that was discovered and is still in demand nowadays is the World Wide Web. World Wide Web or simply Web is widely used in many different aspects and is very useful to almost all needs of people. It is a reliable source of information and Marketing is one of the aspects where Web and technology is greatly applied.
Alternative Learning School, Incorporation is now what it is today because of the continued support of teachers, parents, and community whose dream is to provide quality and relevant Christian education for the children. The school is situated at Gomez St., Purok Bagong Silang, Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
It started in 1998 as Kiddie Kinder School, owned and managed by Mr. & Mrs. Eddie P. Villalon, with 46 pre-schoolers. It was organized essentially to respond to the demands of the parents to have another private catholic pre-school in the locality. With the growing number of enrollees and the demand of basic education, the management was challenged to extend its services to the community by offering an elementary and secondary program under its new name, the Alternative Learning School. Currently, it has an overall school population of 386 students. There are 15 faculty members, and five administrative staffs of which Hon. Eddie P. Villalon is the principal of the school. The school uses manual procedure in computing the grades of the students since there is no existing system. Scores and grades are done manually by individual and step by step computation.
During the initial interview conducted among the faculty members in the school, the problems encountered were difficulties in manual grading system. The grading system which uses the class record book seems to lack accuracy due to frequent miscalculations. In addition,
