“All The Same” by Sick Puppies

In the visual representation the common themes represented were friendship, relationship and acceptance.
The three text chosen to illustrate these themes were ‘The Heartbreak Kid‘, ‘December Boys‘, and ‘All The Same by Sick Puppies‘.

In ‘The Heartbreak Kid‘, the theme of relationships is shown by the main character Nicky and his ‘love’ for his teacher Miss Papadopolous. In the visual representation, pictures of ‘lovers’ holding hand and kissing were used to represent this theme. This theme is also shown in the ‘December Boys’ with the relationship between Maps and Lucy. In the song ‘All The Same’ the theme of relationship is conveyed in the words:

Therefore, the composers use visual techniques, such as fast cutting shots and metaphors, to represent two typical experiences of relationships. Lola shows us that love conquers all, whereas Prufrock shows us how relationships are not needed in life but even though remaining unattached may reduce one’s responsibilities, it may also cause…

In A.B Yehoshua’s novel,The Lover, a chain of first person monologues are described. These monologues are set up in a mixture of flashbacks and conflicts that the characters undergo. This unique structure gives the novel a special meaning towards its description of the characters, and the story itself. For example, the character Asya is described to be a very hardworking independent woman. But, she has a odd relationship with her husband, Adam, who is a diligent man in charge of a successful mechanics garage. Throughout the story Adam and Asya never, hug never kiss, and they barley speak to one another. Meaning that this structure lets The Lover symbolize the loneliness and insufficient amount of recognition towards each of the characters. For instance, Daffi, the daughter of Asya and Adam, is a teenage girl in lack of attention. So, because of her parents barely paying any type of attention to her, she spends her time wandering the streets most of the day trying to keep herself productive by either stalking people or just walking around. After awhile, she then begins to connect with her fathers worker, Na’im, who also is alone and has no attention from anyone, and in the end they both fall in love. This basically shows how this novel details the meaning of loneliness and the importance of love.…

The two quotes shown has dramatically increased the quality of the plot. Both of these examples portray love between many of the characters in the novel. The examples show affection and devotion towards the character spoken to or about. In the second example shown, Cathy expresses her outrage about M&M, Cathy’s brother, living in the unsanitary ‘hippie’ house. She says, “....that baby” showing the concern and therefore the affection she feels for M&M. The first quote with Bryon describing his relationship towards Mark directly shows the theme of love. The deep connection between them was described by Bryon as ‘buddies’ and ‘brothers’. The theme of love had a large part in the grand theme of a changing relationship between Mark and Bryon.…

Throughout the texts, “The First Seven Years,” the story of Jacob and Rachel, the poem, "I Wish I Had Said...," and the Time article, the common theme of love is treated similarly and differently. For example, in the Time article and “First Seven Years,” both of the main characters are playing matchmaker and trying to find a person a spouse. Feld is trying to play matchmaker and find Miriam a young, good looking man to be her husband, but Miriam has different ideas, when she discovers Max is boring and a materialist. Similarly, since the Time article has matchmaker, Erin Davis, the texts are related because they are both trying to find people that they will fall in love with. In contrast, parents like Laban, Rachel’s father, decides who she…

Love can be thought of as your own conscious, there is a good side and a bad side. While being adored and admired is a great feeling to have we also can also feel hurt and upset if somebody shows it in a way that we are unaware love is being show. There are people in this novel who do not know how to show love in 'right' way. The truth is, there is no right way to show love Darry loved Ponyboy with all his heart but showed it through expectations and rules, Dally had done a lot of things wrong in his past but the one thing he did right was love Johnny and tell him that. Love, relationship, and sacrifice are very common in a relationship between two people. In the short stories of “Tommy” by Kelly Ruth Winter and “The Night of Oranges” by Flavius Stan shows these themes that the characters go through. However, there are also differences between the two stories and how they interact with their loved ones. For instances, Winter continued in love with Tommy throughout her life and Stan shows his love for his brother by buying a gift for him on Christmas. It shows their sacrifice they made to prove their love for them. Winter and Stan both expresses their love and sacrifice yet they displayed it in a different way.…

When we think of love the first thing that comes to mind is a person. A person whom we care and have strong and constant affection towards. In the 21st century we see true “love” fading away. Unfortunately, we live in an era where traditional values of love and honor are being replaced with our own dreams so much that divorce is now a common word. Peter Meinke’s use of symbols in “The Cranes” gives the impression of being a simple love story of an old couple birdwatching while reminiscing on their life together, but in reality reveals the darker components of love.…

Grace Chua’s poem, “(love song, with two goldfish)” describes a basic love story that yields no happy ending. In this “song”, male wants female, but the female wants more than what the male can provide. A difference in desires is established. Although the characters of this song are both goldfish, I believe this story represents and can act as a metaphor for numerous relationships in which a female feels trapped or closed in and the male that loves her if not capable of satisfying her desires. Through Grace Chua’s use of punctuation and hints of theme, the reader can sense why this “song” has no happy ending. It can be seen through the perceptions and desires of the characters involved.…

The title of the poem, ‘love song…’ straightaway informs the reader that the theme of the poem will be revolving around love. The title is enclosed by brackets, which suggest that two goldfish are in a confined area like that of a fishbowl. It highlights the theme of being trapped and the lack of freedom. The poem consists of five paragraphs, each of which is in brackets, which constantly reminds the reader of the fact that the two goldfish are in a small confined space.…
