Most people never have to find their inner strength. People can go through life without having to be strong for someone else or themselves because they have someone to lean on. In “All the Bright Places”, Violet and Finch have no one to lean on, until they meet each other. Violet and Finch have no one to share their struggles with, they feel alone in this world and because of that they can feel lonely and suicidal. In this book, one of the main themes is strength. Strength is shown in this book in how Finch deals with his depression, how Violet stays strong after she learns of Finch’s attempted suicide, and how Violet handled herself after the funeral. Growing up in an abusive home, having depression, and having bipolar disorder made life very hard for Finch. He constantly struggled with suicidal thoughts and actions, and had a difficult time opening up to anyone about his feelings. When Theodore Finch starts dating Violet, he …show more content…

The bus driver for the town of Sam Dent, Dolores Driscoll, seems very nice and caring, but there are definitely many examples throughout the first chapter that show her to be quite goofy. First of all, a lot of the things she says and the phrases that she uses are very out there and do not seem to make a whole lot of sense. In the second paragraph on page eleven Dolores says, “Doreen was a Pomeroy from Lake Placid, a sweet little ding-a-ling of a girl”. On page 31 paragraph two Dolores also says, “...and it scared the bejesus out of me, although I could not for the life of me tell you why”. These two sentences make her seem a little loony because the things she says are so unique, and even I rarely ever her people use those phrases. This is just one example of how the author portrays Dolores to be just a bit nutty.…

That quote is probably the essence of romanticism. In the modern world, romance pertains to a night at the movies and dinner, the classic "you can't have him, he's mine!", and hoping that she'll find that engagement ring in the cake while she's eating it. In The Scarlet letter, however, applies to two separated lovers, hidden identities, and reminiscing on the bad times, but with hope and confidence.…

“Traits like… empathy are easily overlooked- but it’s immensely important to find them in your closest relationships.” (Laura Linney) Many characters in To Kill A Mockingbird showed empathy but there was one who showed the most. Pigeons flock together.” The meaning of this quote is that true courage consists of standing up for one’s beliefs and principles, even in the face of unfavorable odds. In Harper Lee’s novel To Kill A Mockingbird the characters Atticus Finch, Jeremy Atticus Finch (Jem), and Jean Louise Finch (Scout) have shown the same true courage. They stood up for what they believed in even when the entire town was against them.…
