All Guts No Glory Analysis
In the article “The Space In-Between” by Santiago Quintana and “All guts, No Glory” by Molly M. Ginty shares three points in common discrimination, adjusting, and accomplishments. Throughout the articles both authors discussed how people were prejudice towards them how they adjust to their environment, and what obstacles they overcame; what they accomplished. Santiago was born and raised in Mexico City. White skin, blue eyes, and curly brown hair, is what Santigo looks like. Struggling with not being accepted in his culture and being told he was not a “true Mexican” really hit Santigo hard. Often said a “true Mexican” has cinnamon skin, hair black as night, and two glowing brown eyes. People thought he was foreign and was often …show more content…
People would say he don’t look Mexican either. Santiago lived in between two worlds; the world back in Mexico City and the world in Beloit Wisconsin. Never fully being a part of either worlds he learned that living in between encourages growth and maturity. Standing in that middle ground was almost like a “vantage point” for him. He would analyze opinions and habits he developed and saw his true values and faults through different eyes. In “All Guts, No Glory” by Ginty the women had to accept that they were not allowed to be in combat. They would either be nurses or convey drivers. Women had to accept that they could not advance in the career world nor have safety training or heath care. Women would also get raped by the men and get pregnant. The military would not provide money for them to get an abortion. Women would fear going to the latrines at night simply because they would get attack by the men. They also had to deal with the men laughing at them and telling things like you should not be here or you’re no good enough to be here and other things of that
