Fahrenheit 451 Character Analysis … Page ?-? Narrative Essay Reflection- Who are you? The prompt presented within the first week of the new semester was to compose an essay about myself. The first thing that came to mind was the simple fact I was going to fail. I had to ask several questions before even completely understanding the requirements. We had to evaluate who we were, why we were here, and how Mr. Henthorn could be of service to us. I worked for many days composing this essay; including many rough drafts and bad ideas. The first part of the prompt was by far the hardest, it took the most thinking. Prewriting consisted mainly of sitting around trying to figure out who I actually thought I was. I wrote about 3 rough drafts before deciding on how I was going to present myself. After finally liking one draft, I did numerous amounts of editing. The editing process was difficult for me because I did not want to mess up my very first essay and make a bad first impression. Revising the essay was much simpler with help from peers. The benefits of using a formatted writing process are ultimately what lead to my higher grade. This process helps to organize, edit, and write with ease during difficult assignments. To better organize I wrote many drafts and bulleted list of important ideas to include, which helped to be sure I included all necessary points. Editing was made easier by my peers who read over the essay and gave me feedback from different perspectives to improve the flow and structure of the essay. And lastly, the ease of writing the final draft came from this described process used. Without this

The following are three essays that I worked on during the semester. Most of it remains the same, while some of my ideas have developed. The only major changes made were redirecting the ideas in the Where is Waldo Now essay. In English 1102 I struggled with a lot, Professor Grant really challenged what I thought I knew about writing. Being that English is my second language, language barriers normally do not reflect in my speech or writing. I felt that this semester really showed me that I still had work to do. Passive voice, comma slices, forming arguments, and grammar are some of the many skills that I worked on during this semester. I attended the Writing Center as often as I could; I also asked questions during office hours. I worked on perfecting these skills in my other classes as well by reading out loud. By exploring these different options my essay grades improved 15 points. Hopefully my portfolio and future papers reflects the time and practice I’ve put into my writing.…

At the beginning of the course we wrote a personal profile, where we introduced ourselves to our classmates and instructor, in it we included some things like the place where we were raised, important influences in our lives, and our dream job. As well, we introduced a topic that we would be interested in structuring and writing an argumentative paper about, I chose the Dakota access pipeline. It was a controversial topic throughout the world and it drew my interest to intellectually challenge the opposing side, along with several other popular debate topics. Unfortunately, I procrastinated throughout the entire course, because writing has never been my strongest suite. I did that because I over thought every single assignment because I was never certain if I was on the right track. Afterwards, we did a “Says Does Analysis” assignment, we had the opportunity to choose an article from the New York Times editorial. We had to determine what the author was trying to do and say, when writing his or her article. Doing this assignment, helped me evaluate my writing more in-depth, and expand upon what I was discussing.…

There are a lot of different themes and symbols throughout the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Many of the motifs coincide with the titles of the three sections in the novel. The three sections were ‘The Hearth and The Salamander,’ ‘The Sand and The Sieve,’ and lastly ‘Burning Bright.’ The symbols and themes of this novel varied from dependence on technology to freedom of expression. All throughout the book there is conformity and those who defy the rules and in the end the ones who do not do as they should, survive. While those who listen to orders and do what they are told are annihilated. The first section of the book’s title represents the growth and destruction of families and their connections, while section two’s title goes along with the themes of flaws of memory and knowledge and lastly the third section’s title is about the symbols of dual uses of fire; good and evil uses.…

I had no difficulty writing out the essay because of the numerous different drafts I typed out. I went over my ideas and organized my work through the outline you gave us which helped a lot when writing the essay. I gave myself enough time to skim through my book to find sufficient quotes that would help me answer the prompt and help support my evidence. The outline alone helped me organize my paper because it split up several parts of the paper through: quotes, claims, warrants, and the thesis statement. The different activities we did during class with our papers helped…

the assignment was to write a second person point of view informative on how to become any occupation of our choice (Naturally I chose the occupation astronaut, a occupation I knew practically nothing on beyond what I could pick up from Sandra Bullock and George Clooney). The essay was difficult to write, it challenged the entirety of my knowledge of grammar. I persevered and wrote a great paper I was proud of. In that class I learned more than how to better my writing but how to appreciate writing and the power it has. It was that class that made me realize the pen truly is mightier than the sword, as lame as that sounds.…

Going into my second semester I signed up for 12 hours, one of which was (WRC 1013), now when I said responsibly, this is what I had to deal with, I got penalized for not doing a response assignment I had been assigned. This made me realize how different things were I had to adjust to not only turning in online assignments but also in class assignments as well. This woke me up as a student and made me alert to everything as far as assignments, personally as a student this made me be more responsible in general. When I got my first graded essay back I looked over it and felt like the worst person ever at that moment, just because I thought I would perform well but I was wrong. When I got the results of my second essay is when I begin to worry and notice the same mistakes, so I made changes, and instead of always being only focused on a strong introduction I also worked on strong points for developing strong ideas and staying on topic for my body paragraphs. In return this let me know what I was doing wrong and what I needed to do to fix the same errors I kept…

Since I had started school and writing composition, I have had experiences that either was good or bad. But at the end these experience helped me through my next and future years of school and college. One of the incidents that most marked my writing experience was in sophomore year. The prompt was doing a resume for college, and I actually did or tried my best, but then again the result wasn't so good. The resume was almost completely marked by red writings, of my grammar. All though the professor gave us many opportunities to make it right, every time I got it back it seems as if nothing had change. And it was then that I realized I haven't had done some things right. I learned two things not to stress and always have my ideas on the same topic.…

I have learned a lot of things about myself as a writer in this semester discourse term/class. Learning new ways and styles to write different kinds of papers was a good thing to add to my education and work experience. Some of the things that I have learn about myself as a writer are good and bad. A couple of good things that I learned about myself as a writer is that I was able to gain an experience on how to organize my ideas and getting them down on paper. I have also noticed that I got good at getting a working theme going on while making my writing unique while in times provoking or emotionally inspiring to a reader. I had shared some of my work with a close friend before turning it in a couple times with my rough drafts and got a couple comments on what she thought before and after reading it. The way my…

Hi my name is Jonathan Alexander Silva. I am 16 years of age I was born and raised in Inglewood, Ca by my parents up until the age of 14 when my dad was separated from my mom and which made me move to Torrance. I’m the type of person who can be really quiet at times but out of nowhere I get louder than a Super bowl stadium. I love to play soccer although I had to drop that class this year due to the fact of me having credit issues. I like the subject science learning about how things work and how the earth works also excites me. I am not going to lie I deeply dislike English, English my least favorite subject because over the course of going to school I have always struggled with it. In ten years I either see my self being a police officer or helping my brother out in his business either way I’ll be happy with I’m doing.…

My name is Sindy Chen. I’m easy-going, conscientious, but introvert and unconfident. When I was in high school, for the purpose of getting rid of my shortcoming, I participated in several extracurricular activities actively. I joined the choir, the cooking club, and so forth. In order to overcome my stage fright, I determined to take part in the choir. I think I made the decision on impulse. When I recall the scenes in which I sang and performed on stage, they seemed completely unimaginable. However, there is hard work and bitterness at the back of applause. The process of practice was repetitive and vapid. Several times I nearly gave up, but thanks to support and encouragement of the teacher and teammates, I could stick at it and pick myself up from where I fall. Although it is hard to utterly conquer my fear, I’m glad that I had made up my mind to attempt what I wasn‘t expert in. In a year of training, I exactly learn the worth of group cooperation and precious friendship that is valuable to me. As for the cooking club, I joined it because I got a sense of accomplishment when I finished the work in person. Even though sometimes the food that our group made didn’t taste good, I still enjoyed cooking with my team members. In the process, we learned with joy and were never tired of it. In addition, as a leader of this group, not only did I learn cooking skills, but I also learned how to allocate works efficiently and integrate with other members.…

I was born to this imperfect world on an April day of the year 1996 in the young country of the United Arab Emirates. That April 25th, a Lebanese couple was given their first born daughter who they later named Nahla Jaber. As I grew, I went through many phases- From being obedient to showing the rebelliousness inside me. My personality started to develop and I noticed I was mostly a happy person. Although I come from a conservative and traditional family, my own experiences bred my open mindedness. I can be outgoing at times but I personally like to stay within the boundaries of the known. I graduated in the year 2013 in Maarifa International School with a British certificate which I take immense pride in. During my school years I learnt many valuable life lessons and even learnt a lot about myself. I realized that I loved to read and it would take me places far from wretched reality. They were my own super heroes in my times of need. Finally, through all my ventures, my biggest one right now is college life. I joined University of Sharjah pursuing my lifelong passion of Business Marketing. I am currently in my first year and very much looking forward to the stories that this particular adventure will hold. I await its surprises, both the good and the bad as these are the stories that mould a person into an individual.…
