All About Me .

Night
My whole heart stopped when I saw the blood dripping from my arm. Today was a regular day but my whole life changed. It was a sunny day with my cousins, sister, friends and I when suddenly I get a huge scar on my right back-hand. It might look like a burn but it’s not, it’s a terrible long lasting scar. This raggedy old scar is about nine years old but I still remember every single detail of how this happened. An almost trip to the hospital wasn’t supposed to happen with just a game of basketball that I wasn’t playing. This almost fun day was one of the worst days of my life; this was the night of my life. Why do we have to play tag? This game makes me very exhausted but I have to other wise my crush is going to think I am fat. I am going to need about five bottles of Gatorade to stay energized though. We played tag around the school-yard for about 15 minutes but I had to use the restroom so I told everyone that I’ll be back in a couple of minutes. Just before I was completely out of the yard my sister called my name to ask me to get her something from the house. The next thing you know a boy ends up accidently knocking me unto the floor and I slide across the concrete. If I was car and I was making a sharp turn you would only hear me screaking. The boy was playing basketball and I happened to stop right in front of the basketball court. I can’t believe I’m lying on this concrete with nothing but blood and a boy I don’t even know next to me. I blacked out for a moment and couldn’t hear anything, it was so silent but everyone talked. All I could see and remember is the faces on everyone’s face. My sister looked as if she was having a baby, and the boy looked as if he saw something ghastly. Everyone was panicking but what I couldn’t get out of my head is the fact that my stockings ripped; those were new stockings that my mom finally got me so you could say my facial expression was being annoyed and irritated. Tired, with a headache, and not in capacity to maintain my eyes open, I remembered next day was Halloween, which was the last thing I remembered before falling sleep. I woke up and saw the watch, it was three o’clock a.m. I listened to a weird sound that came from my closet; it was soft, but I could hear it like a rat scratching the walls. Intrigued about what was happening, I woke up and walked towards the closet. The sound gave me the chills.…

I know it’s a bleak scene, but I’m happy here. I don’t care that I have no stuff. The other three apartments in the building are filled with sober friends and I know this is where I’m supposed to be right now. I cook some food and prepare to relax and process the stuff that just happened on my yoga mat. As I lay down, there is something weird going on in my body, and I don’t understand what it is but I am aware of every single scar on my arms, each place I stuck a needle. I can feel all the pain I caused myself and all of the damage that I did. I know I am in desperate need of more healing.…

Scars are left in our bodies and our minds as a reminder of harder times. As we grow older we are marked by our experiences. Some scars are forgotten about and others will always be there as a reminder. Just like any person I have scars that were left on me from my mind to my body. Like all we have scars that will never heal and others that are left as a joke. But I am here today to talk about a scar I have in an odd place, it is on my left butt cheek. This scar happened my freshmen year of high school, I was fourteen years old, and just like any fourteen-year-old I thought of myself as a slick and smart person that was able to get away with anything. I had started talking to this boy and I really liked him so I wanted to impress him, so one night he asked me to hang out with him and of course I agreed!…

Madison screamed “He’s not going to make it, we didn’t get here in time!” I want to help her but I couldn’t, I couldn’t move, I was frozen in regret. Three more paramedics started to help Madison but I still couldn’t move, I just kept thinking to myself that I just wanted to help. I looked around and I wasn’t in my room anymore, I was in the hospital during my grandpa’s surgery. The waiting room was cold and sterile and the smell of antiseptic was so strong I could taste it. Waves of uneasiness washed over me as if they were trying to drown me. My grandma and my mother were sitting in the room with me and they looked just as scared. I remembered how long my grandpa was in surgery to get his windpipe removed, how I had thought that I wouldn’t make it through the hours he was and that if he didn’t then I wouldn’t make it for much longer afterward.…

I tried to get actual words out but all could come out was, “Mmm… Amm.” “Sydney.” I nodded, feeling like a stupid dizzy bobble head. “You were in a car accident, and also you are in the hospital right now.” Dad told me. “This is probably going to be hard on you but…” He stopped, and I thought I heard him crying. “Your… Mom… Is…” He stopped again then he started, “ Dead.” My whole world collapsed with that word. I was gone without my mom. I curled up into a ball of sadness, never coming…

In this “Culture of Me” society, everything is Me-based. In the video “It Is All About Me,” the author mentions that this generation is known as “Gen Me”; it comes from the formula Gen X + Y +Z. People from this generation are known to be more confident, assertive, feel more free and equal, and have highest self-esteem compared with previous generations. However, these people tend to possess greater possibilities of having depression, suicide, loneliness, and isolation at the same time. Baby boomers of this era are also more interested in immediate gratification and are more focused on themselves. They endeavor to grab attention or seek admiration as much as possible to satisfy their self-esteem; however, this deformed individual’s decision-making skills and relationship with others. My heart is a mixture of hope and hopelessness, all around me is despair and misery and yet if I give up I perish. Every where I go I have to hold on to my emotions. Wherever I walk I see mutilated bodies and to think, that person could have had a life, makes you brake inside. But you have to stay strong, I got used to them, it becomes just a part of my nature. I mean, I see a body and then I disassociate myself completely from it. It was complete genocide. We unwillingly got forced onto a train. There were more thane 30 of us all in one carriage it was dark and there was only one window on the train. There was constant voices yelling, crying, mourning and screaming. A long time had past and noise began to dimmer. I made my way to the little…

My hospital bed was ice cold and the bleak and empty white walls depressed me as the uncomforting thought that I would have to stay here for maybe another week brought tears to my eyes. The usual and oppressive smell of disinfectant lingered in the room as I recalled that night in my head, trying to convince myself it wasn’t my fault, as I had done everyday since the accident. It was the day everything changed and my life was turned upside down. Forever.…

My adolescent legs strain as I continue along the path aimlessly, my stomach rumbles in emptiness as I realise I left without food. How can one think of such things at a time like that? I most certainly didn't, and now the only thing dwelling in my gut was the sore pain that was the increasing hate for the cruel beings that raised me. Lost in my thoughts my melancholy walking pattern is disrupted as my foot catches on a thick branch and I fall swiftly face first into a small jagged rock. Dazed, I lift myself up from the ground and dust myself off; my left eyelid closes automatically as blood rolls down the top of my face. Cursing, I wipe my face with my sleeve, soaking the cotton a blackish-red instantly. The shock dissipates and pain sets in, sharp agony mixed with a strange tingling sensation on my forehead. I forcedly push the pain to the back of my mind, and go to take my next step just as a small blue spherical object reflecting the moon catches my eye on the edge of the track. Interested, I walk over to it, and pick it up in my hands. After examining the dirt caked ball, images of my younger brother flash through my mind. Times spent together, kicking a ball in the backyard, taking him to his first movie, and then screams of pain, blood, oh god the blood is.... The ball drops to the ground as my hand trembles from the horrible images. I kick it far away off the trail in anger as Im reminded of the situation Im in. The smoky scent of a…

We stepped out into the night and drove to the hospital. Once we got there, the nurse asked me a bunch of questions. From 1-10, 10 being the worst, how much does it hurt? How did this happen? Oh yeah, I thought. I never really thought out how this all happened. So I guess it went like this: I sat on the couch, about to watch a movie. When I sat down, I sat on a broken piece of plastic. Then, my elbow started bleeding really bad, but the pain was worse Finally, I ended up at the hospital. After all of the questions, the nurse took me into a small room with my brothers and my dad. The room had a chair, a sink, and worst of all, a tray full of needles. I hated needles. I’ve already experienced what felt like a knife in my elbow, I can’t handle a needle now, I thought. When the doctor came in, she told me I needed 5 stitches. Great, now I need stitches! This day couldn’t get any worse, I thought. First, she stuck about 12 needles in my elbow to numb it. With every single shot, I squeezed my eyes shut, gripped my dad’s hand, and inhaled sharply. Then, she took a black, plastic thread, and began sewing my elbow together. I still remember my pink and white striped shirt, and my brand new blue shorts that were covered with tiny drips of blood. I looked away the whole time the doctor was stitching up my elbow, but by the look on my dad’s face, it definitely wasn’t pretty. All I felt was the tugging on my arm. After what felt like an eternity, she finally made a few knots at the end of the stitch. My brother took a picture and showed me. Eww, it looks like spiders, I…

At just about the hour when my father died, soon after dawn one February morning when ice coated the windows like cataracts, I banged my thumb with a hammer. Naturally I swore at the hammers the reckless thing, and in the moment of swearing I thought of what my father would say: "If you'd try hitting the nail it would go in a whole lot faster. Don't you know your thumb's not as hard as that hammer?" We both were doing carpentry that day, but far apart. He was building cupboards at my brother's place in Oklahoma; I was at home in Indiana, putting up a wall in the basement to make a bedroom for my daughter. By the time my mother called with news of his death--the long distance wires whittling her voice until it seemed too thin to bear the weight of what she had to say-my thumb was swollen. A week or so later a white scar in the shape of a crescent moon began to show above the cuticle and month by month it rose across the pink sky of my thumbnail. It took the better part of a year for the scar to disappear, and every time I noticed it I thought of my father.…

Where is everyone? As I look through the window, my eyes fixate on brutal, intolerable to look at bodies with blood dripping unceasingly with some bodies cut through and mouth filled with anguish. There are no buildings. All demolished into tiny pieces. I quickly close my eyes but the same images reminisce through my head. I would like to get out of this room. I step outside, hold my breath in tightly and look directly up, only up so I cannot see any gruesome bodies. However, when I take each step, I inadvertently stepped on one’s leg. So, I begin to look down. I keep walking until I see a decent, safe place. I stop. I stop walking. I try not to hesitate, although my heart skips a beat numerously. I fall on the floor unintentionally, I see both of them. I cannot endure it, I solemnly walk…
