Alka Seltzer Research Paper
Alka-seltzer is a medicine. Dropping a tablet into a water, you could watch it dissolve into a medicine and the antacid ingredients go to work instally, it will bubble that means it's working, it makes noise also. When you mix effervescent tablets with water, a chemical reaction takes place between the citric acid and sodium bicarbonate contained in the tablet + water.

Gas pressure- Liquids and gases flow. Not like liquids gases have no volume. This means gases can fit in a big space or a small space. Their molecules move closer together or farther apart. Gases spread as far as they can to fill any container. Gas could be moved into a small space. The same amount of gas could also fill up an entire room. This makes gases different from liquids.

    During this lab we tested the reaction of alka seltzer in water. We used water and bromothymol blue (BTB) to help hypothesize what was happening with the alka seltzer in water. When we put the alka seltzer tablet in the water, it started fizzing. It created a lot of bubbles in the water which tells us that some kind of a gas was created when the alka seltzer was put into the water. The next step was the hypothesize what that gas might be. That mystery gas created by the alka seltzer in water had a reaction with the BTB. Since the BTB solution was under the soda bottle dome, a reasonable conclusion is that the gas released by the alka seltzer had a reaction on the BTB solution. The mystery gas turned the BTB solution from blue to yellow. This same reaction occurred when I blew carbon dioxide (CO2) into BTB solution. Since we exhale CO2, and the same reaction occurred with the mystery gas, I can hypothesize that when alka seltzer is combined with water, it creates CO2 gas. So what I learned from this experiment is that alka seltzer when combined with water…
