Life In a Chinese School

The first day that I came back to QSI from a chinese school made me felt like I was in heaven. Since I studied in QSI in a young age, I could hardly write Chinese. So one day, my mom came to me and said, "You are going to a chinese school." I was astonished because it was too sudden and I wasn't prepared to go there. She said I needo to learn Chinese. I didn't argue with her because I know it is impossible to convince her. I was transferred to a local school in the next semester. The school was large. It had a soccer field, basketball courts, and a horseback riding place. The reason I said QSI was like heaven was because the school was very strict and there were no air conditioners in that school. Which was like a living in a desert in the Summer. I started to get used to the school after a few months. My first exam scores was unbelievably low. I had 57 in Chinese and 53 in math, which was very embarrassing. I had no idea how to write a 450 words essay in Chinese and how to do graph linear equation when I was only in the sixth grade. The only thing I was proud there was English, because it was so easy that my teacher can't even believe that I was so good at English. It was all teaching present, past, and future tense of the common verbs so it was easy. It was a boarding school and every day I had to wake up at six in the morning. Which was totally impossible to me because I couldn't even be on time when I was in QSI. I always slept till 7:20 and got ready for class before 7:30 without eating breakfast. I was constantly studying because I sucked at every subject. Since I didn't no how to do my homeworks, my teachers were always mad at me, but at least I tried. The only thing I liked about the school was that it had horseback riding class. It was interesting and kind of cool. The teachers just told me some tips and let me ride the horse on my own. Though I kind of failed because I didn't no how to control the horse, but overall it

Starting American school was one of my biggest fears. I always questioned if I was going to be able to make new friends, or even understand the curriculum. I started the second grade in January, which meant I was entering the school year already half way over, making me the odd ball in class. Nonetheless, my classmates were very welcoming and I made friends quickly. I had been worrying about not being able to fit in, but it seemed like I was perfectly with all the great people I had met.…

In grade 6 I went to a great school called David Leeder Middle School. Even though none of my friends from grade 5 were in my class, I had an amazing year. All of my teachers were fabulous except for one. My math and science teacher was the worst teacher I had ever had. I remember that she would always yell at us for asking her questions about our work. In grade 7, I was also in David Leeder, but this was the best year I had ever had in my life. Every single teacher of mine were very good and they taught everything very thoroughly. Also, I made a lot of friends during this year. Academically I had the best year and I took part in extra curriculars such as soccer and volleyball. During these two years I went to Pakistan, I went to New York…

Brown Elementary School in Grambling. Besides the drama with my parents, I enjoyed my childhood. Eventually, I started middle school at Grambling Middle Magnet School and for the next three years I played snare drum in the high school band. At this point of my life, things got kind of twisted. I started hanging out with the wrong crowd and as I carried over to high school, I tried a lot of different things. Some things were bad and some weren’t. My grades were slowly dropping until my father decided to take me out of Grambling High School and putting me into Cedar Creek School in Ruston. I transferred during the second semester of my sophomore year and attended there until graduation. I hated this school! I was around a lot of different people of many different races and I didn’t get along with a lot of them until my senior year. I was so happy when I graduated. It was a great feeling to be done with high school! As of now, I attend Southern University in Baton Rouge, where I will pursue a degree in…

I went to Ansbach Middle-High School. The school was shaped like a rectangle, also all the housing around us were just really tall rectangles, and the military base itself was just a rectangle. Looking back, the environment around me was very depressing and boring. There was a max of 300 hundred students at my school and that was spread through grades 7th-12th. There was no majority ethnicity in the school, instead there was a multitude of races that attended every year. I attended the school through 7th-11th grade. Even though I went to school for 5 years I didn't have an impact until my last year there. 11th grade was the turning point for me. I got involved with a program at my school called the Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC). I joined this program at 9th grade and treated it as another class till my junior…

I was in AP/Honors courses, playing Varsity soccer, volunteering at least 5 hours a week, and working part time. Although this was the most stressful time period of my life, it also helped me grow. I learned a lot about time management that year. Every year since then I find myself complaining less and less about school, because overall I know that I can handle it. Junior year I had the lowest GPA of my whole academic life, yet, I worked the hardest.…

First was the food. It was hard to get used to the food because everything tasted too salty. The fast food restaurant that my family often visited were completely different from the ones from Korea. My family will usually stay home to eat. For the first year, my family stayed home often. We didn’t know how to speak or know the area. Even at school, I only nod as a response. It was hard to make friends because I couldn’t speak the language. Yet, with the help of my kind teacher, I was progressing fast. After a while, the teacher helped me make a friend. Even if we couldn’t communicate, I could understand with her actions and emotions. I think the most effective way to learn the language is communication. By spending most of my time with that friend, I was able to speak and read english in couple months. Writing came later. I really enjoyed the school life in America. In Korea, I remembered forced to go to school and attend multiple after school classes. What I liked about schools in America was the classrooms had friendly environment. I was very surprised how close the relationship between the students and the teacher. In Korea, there was always a boundary between the teacher and the students that had to respected. Also, the students were very racially diverse. I had many friends from different background, and it was interesting to learn about their culture and personalities. Out of all, my favorite was the art and music…

It’s a bler, trying to look back on when I was a preschooler, so first grade was a mess. First grade is a life changer. Going to Tri-Point in Piper City not even for a full year. Tri-Point is a small old school just like ROWVA. I remember changing schools because my parents got a divorce. We moved to Peoria and lived there with my mom's parents. I got transferred to a Catholic school. Every Wednesday the whole place went to church right across the street. It was the worst thing ever sitting in the old creepy church listening the Father talk about only “God” knows what. My teacher's name was Mrs. Heartstick, no I did not make the name up. She grossed me out. He hands very dry and cracked, they looked like an old man's hands who had worked his whole…

At the time I was pretty young, just finished the third grade at St. Henry School and I was feeling comfortable. But sometimes I will soon find out, is not always a good thing. At this time I was living in very green and warm Nashville, Tennessee. It was the beginning of August and it was almost time to head back to school. But at that point school sat in the very back of my mind as I was totally focused on trying to have the best time before summer ended. School hadn’t really been said between my mom which was kinda weird because normally we were on the…

Middle school was really weird time for me. It seemed like it was the most dramatic / drama filled. Our school at St. Peters was messed up, anything that could happen did. If you weren't my friend at St. Peters you better hope that you weren't mean to me, because if you were the teachers would find out what you did and they get in trouble.…
