Furthermore, when psychoanalyzing the personality of Dexter Morgan, one can find reasonable evidence to come to the conclusion that he is a sociopath. Researchers believe that it is either genetics or early childhood trauma, like abuse or, possibly in Dexter’s case, watching his mother being murdered, that can cause a person to become a sociopath (SFDiplomat 3). We can see that genetics could be a feasible cause as the main antagonist of the first season ended up being his brother. There are a number of signs that lead to Dexter being classified as a sociopath.
