I. Before the attack on the nation on September 11th, airport security was not as it is today; airlines have become stricter and now requires to follow a number of steps for individuals to be able to travel.

II. Homeland security was created in 2002, after September eleventh, with hopes of stopping terrorist acts of destruction.
A. The terrorist attack of the Twin Towers left the nation with a state of anxiety and unease; therefore, America took several steps in advancing security by creating the Homeland Security Act, “The Homeland Security Act of 2002 combined or created over 200 government agencies” (Hagler).
B. Homeland security has made the American people more assured with each passing year.
C. Homeland security’s purpose is to provide the United States with security from terrorism and terrorist acts like that of the World Trade Center in 2001.
