Airjet Best Parts Inc Part 1
Kim Witten
Course Project Part I

Task 1
1.
National First (Prime rate is 3.25%) +6.75% = 10% Semiannually
EAR = (1+.10/2) ^2 – 1 which is 10.25
Regions Best Rate is 13.17% Monthly
EAR = (1+.1317/12) ^12 – 1 which is 13.99

2.
I think that between National First and Regions Best that National first offers the lower rate after computing the EAR. National first is also only compounded semiannually making it lower then Regions Best. The only thing I worry about it the prime rate changing because if it rises a lot then it could possibly become a higher interest rate them Regions best. At the time being if Air jets Best Inc. takes the National First option then that is 3.74 percent less they would be paying if they had gone with Regions Best. This would be the better option because you will pay less interest over time for the loan amount.

3.
Loan Amount = $6,950,000
APR = 8.6%
Monthly Interest Rate = 8.6%/12 = 0.7167 = 0.72%
Term = 5 years
Number of monthly Payments = 60
Monthly Payment = $142,926.43

I agree with going with the decision because if you compare it to national First interest rate of 10% even though it is compounded semiannually you still will pay less with Regions First who compounds monthly. The less you can pay in interest over time will be less out of your pocket and the best decision to make in the long run.

Task 2
1.
Raytheon
Dividend: 1.71
Yield 3.90%
Stock Price: 44.18
(Dividend per Share/Stock Price)+Growth
(1.71/44.18)+5 = 8.87%

Boeing
Dividend: 1.68
Yield: 2.60%
Stock Price: 65.8
(1.68/65.8)+5 = 7.55%

Lockheed Martin
Dividend: 4
Yield: 5.40%
Stock Price: 76.52
(4/76.52)+5 = 10.23%

Northrop Grumman Corporation
Dividend: 2
Yield: 3.50
Stock Price: 57.18
(2/57.18)+5 = 8.50%

2.
Required rate of return (Raytheon) = 8.87%
Growth = 1%
Dividend per share = 1.71
D1= D0 x (1-growth rate) = 1.71 x (1-1%) = 1.73
Current share price = 1.73/ (8.87-1%) = $21.98

3.
Common Stock = $21.98

    The one of the macro problems Wengart Aircraft is having is that they are the second largest company in the industry but are only ranked sixth in profitability (Brown, 2011). Wengart gets a large amount of contracts but they are spending a lot of money reworking most of the aircrafts after they come off of the production line. Another problem is the quality of their aircrafts is in question with the Secretary of Defense and other private customers. The Secretary of Defense has gone as far to say if there is not an improvement in quality they will start holding portions of their payments as penalties. This would not be good because Wengart is already struggling to make profits due to the poor quality of work. In order to fix these problems Ralph Larsen the president of Wengart has brought in an organization development practitioner to help him understand the TQM that the Department of Defense wants him to implement. This leads to the biggest problem Wengart is facing because after the practitioner makes his points, Larsen thinks that the TQM is common sense and that Wengart is already doing most of the points. Larsen than calls a meeting of his vice presidents and put Kent Kelly in charge of the program, even after one of the vice presidents suggested Larsen be in charge of the program because the TQM should be a joint project meaning the human resources and production departments work together. Larsen however did not feel that he had the time to be in charge of the program because he wanted to concentrate his efforts to increasing profits. After the meeting Kelly sends a memo to Allan Yoshida explaining the TQM program, with that information Yoshida calls a meeting of manager and line supervisors to give them the details of the TQM program. Yoshida than went and email all employees an outline of the TQM plan and told them to ask their managers or supervisor for more details if they had questions. After that rumors began to…

    As Aircraft Solutions takes the next step in its growth, it is imperative that its IT infrastructure keep pace as to not counteract gains made by the company during this expansion. This is especially important given it designs and fabricates components for both commercial and defense related industry. Given the increase in staff as well as outside vendors accessing the network, a more centralized approach to antivirus protection has to be adopted. It is equally important that certain elements within the network that have been done manually, such as Access Control List policy, be automated to avoid consuming the IT department in an ever escalating bar of employee hours.…

    Airborne Express is the third largest and fastest growing international air express delivery company in America. It held roughly 16% of the domestic express mail market by 1997. It provides time-sensitive delivery of documents, letters, small packages, and freight in the United States and internationally. The company has several advantages over its rivals, such as it provides delivery services at a lower cost of up to 20% over FedEx and UPS; it operates the nation’s only privately owned foreign trade zone in Wilmington; it is more flexible and provides more customer-tailored services. It charges lower price but still much guarantee delivery dates (not offered by the US Postal Service).…

    Easyjet Case Analysis

    Yes, the budget airline segment is very attractive in a country where the people are interested to travel in low cost airlines without much comforts like business class and food. And more over if the company can reduce its costs in the areas of operations and utilising the resources more efficiently, then budget airline segment is definitely an attractive place. Some of the areas where we can look into reduce the costs are like using the no frills strategy, reducing the number of travel agents, reducing the aircraft stay in a airport (which reduce the fees to be paid for the airports). The above are the some of the strategies used by the easyjet airways and also they used their resources to maximum extent like they operated Boeing flights for 11 hours per day compared to their rivals who used 6 hours per day. Rising middle class all over the world is also another factor which makes the budget airline segment an attractive place because they can afford the air travel at such a low price there by increasing the volumes of air traffic and helps in increasing the profits of the airlines. As the prices are low for the aircraft, the profit margins are also very low and the airlines has to strictly adhere to its operating policies like punctuality and low fares to attract masses and generate revenues. If one cannot stick to their standards they may lose the market (as in the case it was mentioned some 60 out of 80 carriers went bankrupt). Some other aircraft carriers which are successful in this segment are American southwest airlines and Indian Spicejet (They generated profits after introducing the new strategy of low prices). Also in the case it was mentioned the European budget airline segment was expected to grow by as much as 300% by 2004. So it is definitely a best place to compete and sustain. Also some of the business executives also prefer the low cost airlines as…
