Air Pollution in the World

“Every day, the average person inhales about 20,000 liters of air. Every time we breathe, we risk inhaling dangerous chemicals that have found their way into the air” (Brimblecombe, 1994). Nowadays air pollution become more and more serious problem. It is mainly caused by 3 big factors. The first main cause of air pollution is factories. Every person needs food, clothes, furniture and other important things. For this reason there are thousands of factories in the world. These buildings emit fumes and gas that are harmful for our planet. For example ”Large cities, such as Los Angeles, have a layer of smog, which is polluted air over the whole city. If air pollution continues as it has been, before too long, the entire earth will have an additional ring around it consisting of polluted air from factories”(eHow Contributor, date n.a). Also, people need electricity so they build power-stations which are none the less pollutants than various factories. Another cause is car air pollution which is a silent and invisible problem. We tend to think that inside our cars we are safe from most things that can hurt us, but that is far from the truth – especially where air quality is concerned. We can see the air pollution outside, but inside it is invisible and thus not on our minds. It is almost unusual to see people without a car, an automobile is very important thing in our everyday life. We use it to go to work, supermarket and anywhere else we need. But cars are really noxious, because of the motor vehicle engine which emits many types of gas, including nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), particulates, sulphur dioxide (S02) and lead. The last but not least important air pollution problem is human activity. People use various things in their everyday life - food, clothes, soap and many more. Also they throw away o lot of waste products such as bottles, packing etc. Many of them cannot decompose. These are various trashes - plastic, metal, glass, chemicals and some other that we leave in dumps. Rubbish emits methane which causes many problems. Furthermore, there is another harmful human activity such as forest cutting. Trees are important for our planet, because they use C02 gas from environment and produce oxygen which is essential for every living creature. So, without trees we have much more unhealthy gas around us that increase air pollution and make negative effect on Earth. These three main problems of our society cause some huge effects on our planet. The main effect of these problems is global warming, which includes a lot of smaller bad points. “Global warming is the unusually rapid increase in Earth’s average surface temperature over the past century primarily due to the greenhouse gases released by people burning fossil fuels” (Riebeek, 2010). The first effect which happens because of global warming is glacier melting. Nowadays it is not seen as very serious problem, but in ten years it will have huge impact on our planet. If glaciers melt even partially, the level of water will raise about 1 metre. It causes many problems, because a big part of continents will be flooded, and huge number of cities that are inshore of the oceans or seas will be underwater. That means many people will have to leave their homes and find a new place where to live. Also, glacier melting cause problems for animals living in Antarctica. For example, polar bears which live on these glaciers, and when they melt, bears are under the necessity to live in water as fish, which is absurdity, or they have to swim long distances to find the ice. Another effect dependant on global warming is hurricanes. The oceans are getting warmer, and these cause stronger storms. For example, in 2004 there were 15 big hurricanes in the Atlantic basin (Drye, 2007). Such storms always bring much loss: they leave thousands homeless people, many of them are injured. The second big effect on Earth is acid rains. These rains are mainly caused by CO, CO2, lead, chlorofluorocarbons and other substances that are being released into the air. Acid rains are very harmful to the environment. Acid rain affects the life in the water as well as the life on land. It is almost worse in water than on land because the fish that are in the water need it to breathe. When the oceans get polluted, then the fish get sick and end up dying. Acid rains also damage trees, and other plants, so they die. The last important effect caused by air pollution is health problems. Elderly people and young children suffer from the effects of air pollution more often. Air pollution effects irritation of eyes, nose and throat, respiratory difficulties, headache, allergy. If it continuous for a long time, air pollution can also effect pulmonary cancer, asthma stroke, heart diseases (Will and Jon, 1990). Furthermore, air pollution is a beginning of stress. People feel unhealthy, also often they do not know the reasons of their negative feelings. In conclusion, every person on this planet is using too many things that they could live without. Consenqently, factors such as factories, cars and human activities cause air pollution. It effects our planet in extremely way by global warming, acid rains and health problems. Regarding all issues mentioned before we should start changing our world.

Air pollution is the initiation of chemicals, particulate matter, or biological materials that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other living organisms, or damages the natural environment into the atmosphere. Air pollution occurs when the air contains gases, fumes, dust, or other harmful agents. According to Morgan (2003), air pollution was not a problem until the 19th century and Industrial Revolution because pollution was readily diluted in the atmosphere (Morgan, Environmental Health, 2003, p. 247). Air pollution occurs in many forms but can generally be thought of as gaseous and particulate contaminants that are present in the earth 's atmosphere (Air Pollution - Its Nature, Sources, and Effects, 2013). Natural sources of air pollution include forest fires, dust storms, and volcanic eruptions (Morgan, Environmental Health, 2003, p. 249).…

Air pollution affects everything from agriculture and ecosystems to human health, on a global scale. The five major air pollutants are ground-level ozone, particulate matter, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide (Donnatelle, 2010). A majority of these pollutants are the result of human action. One example being coal power plants. These plants release greenhouse gas emissions and particle air pollution. The burning of the coal creates pollutant byproducts. Other forms of industrial pollution, exhaust fumes, burning wood, and several forms of indoor air pollutants result in air contamination. The combination of various air contaminates can be extremely toxic. The pollutants irritate the lungs and may even cause respiratory diseases and cancer in humans (Donnatelle, 2010).…

Air pollution was also caused by Chemicals and toxic pollutants. These pollutants come from many industrial or manufacturing plants. For making a faster composite development, countries are paying more attention on the development on the chemical processing. But at the same time, people pay less attention on the environmental governance. The effect is sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide are released to the air, reacting with the water in the air…

Polluted fumes can enter the earth’s troposphere from a variety of ways. Three main sources that air pollution have been known to evolve from is exhaust from motor vehicles, harmful emissions from industrial factories, and soot from wood burning fireplaces. Impurities from the air have been known to cause a number of health related issues such as headaches, emphysema, and allergies. Although air pollution can be created from many different sources, it is important that people of all nations come together as a whole in order to manage the amount of toxics that enters the atmosphere on a daily basis. Controlling the amount of waste that enters the environment plays an essential role in the longevity of humanity. ("Advanced Composition For Non-Native Speakers Of English", 2001-2014).…

Air pollution is caused by humans. Smog and ozone layer depletion are two major causes. They are both toxics in the air that humans create and toxics that effect humans as well. Smog is caused by so many different chemicals that ranges from things like automobile exhaust to hairspray. It affects humans mainly in the circulatory and respiratory systems which are both very important and crucial to survive. Ozone layer depletion is a very serious decline of gas in the ozone layer which is bad because the less ozone we have surrounding us, the more ultraviolet rays can reach us. Those UV rays are harmful to us and cause skin cancer and the rates of that happening to people are increasing as the years go on and the ozone layer decreases.…

So, pollution is one of the most burning problems of nowadays. Now millions of chimneys, cars, buses, trucks all over the world exhaust fumes and harmful substances into the atmosphere. These poisoned substances pollute everything: air, land, water, birds and animals. So, it is usually hard to breathe in the large cities where there are lots plants. Everything there is covered with soot and dirt. All these affect harmfully. Every year the atmosphere is polluted by about 1000 tons of industrial dust and other harmful substances. Big cities suffer from smog. Cars with their engine have become the main source of pollution in industrial countries. Vast forests are being cut down for the need…

There are three broad sources of air pollution from human activities: stationary or point, mobile, and indoor. In developing countries especially in the rural area, indoor air pollution from using open fires for cooking and heating may be a serious problem. Industries, power plants etc. are the cause of stationary air pollution. But in urban areas – both developing and developed countries, it is predominately mobile or vehicular pollution that contributes to air quality problem. The worst thing about vehicular pollution is that it cannot be avoided as the vehicular emissions are emitted at the near-ground level where we breathe. Pollution from vehicles gets revealed through symptoms like cough, headache, nausea, irritation of eyes, various bronchial problems and visibility and are due to discharges like CO, unburned HC, Pb compounds, NOx, soot and aldehydes, among others, from the tail pipes of vehicles.…

Factories contribute to air pollution in many ways .Whenever products are created in factories they also create something called by products. By products are things such as carbon monoxide and chlorofluorocarbons which are very harmful to our air. These by products are depleting our ozone layer as we speak. Factories also create sulfur gases which is one of the greenhouse gases. They get in to our air and can cause acid rain which will destroy our crops health and water sources.…
