Air pollution kills it is considered is one of the top 10 causes death in the world. 4000 filipinos died each year due to respiratory and vascular diseases. Air pollution is one such form that refers to the contamination of the air, irrespective of indoors or outdoors. It occurs when any harmful gases, dust, smoke enters into the atmosphere and makes it difficult for plants, animals and humans to survive as the air becomes dirty. Air pollution destroys Ozone Layer and causes global warming and acid rain. Some ways to lessen air pollution are:
Take public transport or carpool!
-A good solution for longer journeys may be public transport or carpooling, since more people can be transported in a single vehicle. Save electricity!
-Don't leave your electronic devices - TV sets, computers, DVD's - on stand-by mode. Switch them off completely and you will save about 10 % of your electricity bill. Stop smoking
Haphazard disposal of urban and industrial wastes, exploitation of minerals, and improper use of soil by inadequate agricultural practices are all contributing factors to land pollution. Causes: Deforestation, Agricultural activities, Overcrowded landfills, industrialization ,sewage. Solutions for Land Pollution:
Make people aware about the concept of Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. Reduce the use of pesticides and fertilizers in agricultural activities. Avoid buying packages items as they will lead to garbage and end up in landfill site. Ensure that you do not litter on the ground and do proper disposal of garbage. Buy biodegradable products.
Do Organic gardening and eat organic food that will be grown without the use of pesticides. Create dumping ground away from residential areas.
