It was an individual project with real deliverables. The focus was on studying the employee’s perception towards Performance Appraisal System in Air India. Performance Appraisal is an important system in an organization. It is the process of evaluating the performance of employees in terms of the requirements of the job for which they are employed. Earlier performance appraisal was considered as a simple and confidential method of rating the job performance of individual employees by their supervisors for the purpose of giving remarks and rewards.
In Air India appraisal results are used to identify the poorer performers who may require some form of counseling, or in extreme cases, demotion or dismissal.
The purpose of the study has been to determine whether the performance appraisal was used for employee development and increase company’s profitability.
